Functional and I happen to like it. I added some front trim boards the plans didn’t call for to try and give it a more finished look. Thanks for the suggestion.

Putting some scraps to use this morning with breakfast and a book. Next project is a noodle board for a friend who did some work on the truck for me.

No, the Solo stove sits on a perforated ring about 3" above the surface. It draws cool air in from the bottom to feed the fire. I've used it on grass and it's didn't even wilt the grass. You can see it in the picture.

I do think they are pricey. My wife got it for me for Christmas to take camping. I like a few of the others that came out after that have a lower profile.

Next project. Noodle board for a friend. Walnut with a spalted maple insert that will have the last name burned in. Rough cut and approximate layout. I think the name insert will go up front, just not certain.

I finally figured what's bugging me about this. It's that wide board in the middle. Decided I'm going to rip it down, and vary the boards in widths between 4" and 6". And I'm going to bread board the ends. My wife is going to chemically burn the last name into the maple, so until we see how that works, in a holding pattern.

Got some shop time yesterday so I finished the first step of pattern routing. I had to change to a new bit because the first one had lost its sharp and I was getting chip out. A couple of maple pieces blew out really bad and I had to glue the chunks back on with ca so I'll have a smooth surface for the next step of roundover routing. My fingers are well coated in ca, lol.20250201_180602.jpg

    Finished!

I took this original picture at a recent funeral for a family member. My father is an artist and painted the picture. I made the frame. It is a gift for my wife’s uncle. It was his brother that passed. Sending it his way tomorrow in the mail.

Really nice...I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated. Great choice for wood tones with that painting!

Rough fit, poplar frame to test my methods. Now $15 more on hard-maple. Light comes in through the back plexiglass so it does not look too "imposing".

Had some time today to being the custom case build out with a Fractal North XL

I wanted to go with a more natural theme (wooden) and since the North series already has wood wooden accent on the front I wanted to add more to it. I found some super thin walnut veneer and got to work tonight. This is what I've done so far.
