    A flag holder for the GF's dad. He lost his brother back in February. The wood is Ash from a tree they fell in the GF's dad's yard together. I'm going to get a small brass plate for the front.

    Built this kerfing plane, a Tom Fidgen design that allows me to cut a 1/2" kerf around the edge of a board that my frame saw (post 1445) unerringly follows. Hardware from Bad Axe Toolworks. These tools make resawing by hand a realistic option.

    Yep, just did this weekend. For smaller pieces, I run them through at an angle. For longer pieces, I run them through back to back. It also helps to slightly put upward pressure on the board right before the front feed roller comes off the board; like you would if you were trying to avoid pinching a blade with a circular saw.

    I'll have to try the back to back thing. Seems like sometimes it does it and other times it doesnt. My neighbor also has problems with snipe but I dont know exactly what he's doing when it happens. I read a little bit about putting a little upward angle on the feed and outlet ramps.

    Also does you put any type of spray lube on the bottom side of the planer?

    No, I don't. When I need to lube something like that I typically use paste wax though.

    I have this model and I use it as it is in the pic. With the long boards, the upward pressure keeps the snipe away for me.

    Yeah the dewalt isnt too bad. I can usually get rid of any snipe with a few passes with a hand plane if necessary.
