You can cut it anywhere after the muffler - doesn't change emissions. I plan on doing this when I rework my rear setup with a downturn before the rear axle.

I chopped the tailpipe on my Gen1 (so it would work with the NWOR extended shackles) 15 years ago. I've been through probably 10 California inspections since then and not once has it even been mentioned.

This state isn't bad - there's not even a safety inspection.

Maybe not the worst in the way of vehicle inspections, but among the worst for other reasons. Plenty of other stuff that makes me want to leave my home of 39 years - which I'm working on.

I grew up there until I was 19, then went to the east coast for the military. I love visiting, but I'll never live there again.

lol I just read your tag under your avatar.

    I meant for modding vehicles.

Whatever your issues are with the state I'm sure they're valid and while similar issues exist in other states, they may be so to a lesser degree. I work in education and it bugs me how little anyone actually does to make education appropriate for young people in urban low income areas. In fact if it wasn't for me liking what I do I might move to Utah where I could afford a place to have a welder and shop tools. I like the preserves and national parks out here - they give you a lot of freedom - reminds me of up state Maine from when I was growing up out there. The city on the other hand, can definitely turn the pressure up on the stress meter.

Pretty much sums it up! I live in one most economically illiterate enclaves in the US, perhaps on the entire planet.

I'm sure you know what libertarian / classical liberal's response to that would be, but to avoid any uncertainty: Privatize, privatize, privatize!

Exactly. Those things should be economically accessible (without government / tax-payer subsidies) to people who have the interest and skill to make productive use of them.

For sure! It has gotten rediculously congested in the SF East Bay. Utah, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho... all on my radar.

    Anyway. Rant complete. For now.

lolz - the only thing with private education in low income areas is that it sucks worse than public in most cases - they don't pay teachers nearly as much and in most of the people in them know nothing about how to educate kids in these environments. C'est la vie. No one can get rich helping poor people so it is what it is - it will probably always be up to the class warriors. One thing I teach my students is to keep themselves in a good environment so you're setting the example by heading for a place that better suits your lifestyle :)

Just wanted to give a friendly reminder to not let this get political, as that's the quickest way to a ban. Not saying anyone was, but just making everyone aware.

Ok, also - let them work. Learning to earn an income is a hugely overlooked and very important part of education, starting as early as reasonably possible. There are way too many barriers keeping young people unemployed.

I started working at 8 or 9 years old. Paper route. Up at 4am before school, weekends too. Made around $25, plus tips every two weeks. A lot of money at that age and year! Plus, I had, by myself, to go door to door to collect the subscription fees directly from subscribers! This was a very important part of the learning experience. Collecting the money myself - having that interaction with the people I was providing a service to.

My son is three, and three weeks ago he started asking how he could get more toys and treats (ice cream). I told him, in terms understandable to his developmental stage, that we generally get those things with money, which we earn by providing a product or service to someone who is willing to pay for it. He was very interested and eager. So I take him out every Tuesday night ( and random other times, when he asks) to collect aluminum cans from a couple of parks in the neighborhood and from a a few of the neighbors. So he's learning that the recycling center values his labor - collection of the cans, and his goods - the cans (which he has legally taken possession / title of), and they compensate him with money. Albeit just a few bucks. He's all over it! He asks to go get cans and is super proud and excited every time he finds one.

Yes, he washes his hands. Another valuable lesson.

Ok ok ... this was as much a proud dad moment as it was about my kid learning the value of earning and being independent!

Totes. Is it really the politics that gets it banned or is it more uncivilized discussion of such things?
