Hey! My roof racks are made from steel, and I paint the hell out of them to get in all the nooks. Then again, every rack I’ve built so far has stayed in CA. I wouldn’t trust e-coating alone even in dry conditions.

If it was me.. is get a prinsu. There's a reason it's the go to roof rack which has been proven and tested. Don't make the mistake of buying a cheap product and then have to buy a similar product later on because the original was cheap

Kudos there. Still blows my mind how some in that thread didn't see it as an exact copy..Even Zach said he wouldn't have been surprised if the guy used his Prinsu CAD files.

Haha, don't tempt me. Have a South America trip planned and need to be able to get back. But looks like you'll be making these for awhile. Congratulations!

I see so many flaws in that cheap ebay design. Those hollow bars are thin walled and I doubt it will hold much weight. There is an elevated lip around the crossbars so what's good are they if you have cargo that extend past the rack? You might as well remove the crossbars. The mounting points are set and I can see the metal bending when tightening the bolts. Last and most importantly, it will rust in those hollow tubes and will weaken the mounting points that will unfortunately fail when loaded with disastrous results. The eBay steel rack is listed at only 60lbs vs 50lbs for an aluminum Prinsu rack. That alone tells you how cheap it is. Nice try eBay but total FAIL! This will be the RTT that can be used on that rack:
