The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B27A1 is detected by the Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly) if an open circuit is detected between the Certification ECU (Smart Key ECU Assembly) and front door outside handle assembly (for driver side) terminals.

What are the symptoms, or is it just some erroneous code that was stored a long time ago and you are now just reading?

Then I’d check the wiring, I *think* a dead Door handle module will give you a some form of communication error not open circuit error. The wiring would be anywhere between smart key ECU and door handle.
There is another thread with a link to Toyota’s “testing procedures” that provides a ton of info and module locations.
