Anybody else have a "sticky" glovebox latch?

Did a search and didn't turn up anything other than someone's busted one.

My glove box latch is sticking a little, opens fine but sometimes the latch "tabs" themselves come back out very, veeeeeery, slowly. The glove box will fail to re-latch if you don't wait long enough, as the tabs haven't come out far enough to latch.

"Percussive encouragement" (aka bopping the glove box shut once or twice) brings them out more quickly.

Doesn't feel like any sort mechanical failure, just that something gooey is inside the latch. Like imagine the consistency of a roasted marshmallow. Anyone else have this? I haven't gotten the interior particularly dirty or anything...

If it's just a matter of cleaning something I won't bother with the dealer.

Is your truck cold when doing this? Grease might be cold.

Could spray some WD-40 in there.

I've got rattles in there, feel like ripping the whole thing out sometimes and tossing it out the window.

Yeah pretty cold, like 40 deg F and had been sitting... not the end of the world but certainly not room temp. I didn't even think of that! That actually sounds like the most logical explanation. I'll give it a try once the truck has warmed up when I have a longer trip to make.

Mine does the the same thing. If I don't shut it with enough oomph it sometimes falls back open after a few seconds.

It's never bothered me enough to investigate further. I just shut it with a little more pizazz

I would suggest silicone spray, very clean, and dries clean. Won't collect dirt either once dry.
