I think I’d opt for a tuned ecoboost vs an Accord if I was trying to be sneaky while blowing someone’s doors off.

Yeah those new Accords are nice. Car&Driver says the 2.0T 10 speed Accord will do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds and 14.1@102 mph. That's crazy for a FWD family sedan. Wonder if tuning will be an option on it eventually as well.

need to learn more about this stuff
Father in law is a huge ford guy. Drives big lifted f-250s. They are like tanks. He gets a new one every 3-4 years. Tons of space inside. But literally feel like driving a tank.
Been at his place with the fam the last 2 weeks. He’s getting a raptor now. Guess how much the bugga costs? Msrp is $74k. And he has to pay an additional $10k. Yes. He just put a deposit down and won’t get it until March. insane.

Car and driver has the stock Accord 2.0t as faster than f150 3.5 Ecoboost. #ultimatesleeper

Also raptors are awesome, but that price is a bit crazy. But if you have it might as well get what makes you happy.

I owned a 2.7 ecoboost for 41k, it was very powerful but at 35k the aux. transmission pump went out. They are nice trucks but you have to compare apples to apples and the tacoma vs f150 is not that kind of comparison.

I traded in a 2015 F150 XLT that had stickered at $50k and I walked out the door with it at $34,400. It was a nice truck. Had 35k miles on it when I traded it in on my 2017 DCSB Sport. Totally different trucks. Both nice and both have their issues.

Wow...id like to see that invoice.

So if you walked out the door with it at 34,400, how much was is discounted down to BEFORE tax, tags, title etc?

You got almost $20k off! Ford paid you to take that truck

Yep they sure did. I didn't put any cash down and got about $3k off for my trade. Other than that it was all them. Went in with a number in my head and walked out with that number. Visited the dealer a couple times, test drove and walked out. Told them if you can make it work Ill be back so when they got the truck in I was looking for I went back in and did the deal.

I like my Tacoma but if I were buying the Ford the engine of choice for long term ownership is the little V8. Design is old as dirt, not as complicated as the EcoBoost.

Thats the one I had. They really tried to push the ecoboosts but they can keep them. I wanted good ole V8 power and sound. None of that pumped through the speaker sound.

Maybe that's why Toyotas holds their value so much better. I find myself thinking about how much money the guy driving a new Ford or Gm pissed away everytime I see one on the road.

It's kind of like BMW, sure they are nice looking and fun to drive, but why buy new when you can buy one 2 years old and save 50%.

The only reason I’d even care about the resale is if I couldn’t stand the vehicle to the point where I couldn’t drive it at least a few years. I paid 31k otd when I bought my F150 (used) in January ‘14 as of now I’ve been offered 23k trade in (on a Tacoma) and 26k from a coworker. Either way I’d feel like was a bargain to drive this truck for four years, now to be clear I’m not arguing that Tacoma’s don’t retain more value ...I just don’t care that they do (but I’m glad they do in case I buy one and can’t stand it) :D

I would drive a F-150 but Toyota pays me 25,000 a year to drive the Tacoma.

My friend is an engineer at Honda of Marysville Ohio.. He worked on the suspension components for the new accord, and said the only thing the New Accord and the Type R engine have in common are the size, but the actual motor itself has different crank, cams, pistons, rods, bearings, head, valve angle etc.. it's all different.. He said that the block also uses a different amount of zinc and other metals, so it's nowhere near as strong.. So i mean to that effect, i would get a hyundai..
