The first week I had my Evo IX the wife and I drove it from OKC to Galveston. On E85 the whole way with the Recaros and 3.5" turbo back exhaust. To make matters worse it was a 5 speed so at 80mph we were rolling about 4800 rpm. She was ready to kill me by the time we got there and only had mercy because my left leg was useless from the hd twin disc clutch. Lol.

Lol the title of this post made me laugh. Unless it's a Raptor, Toyota all the way. Even with a Raptor I would be skeptical.

Oh man those were the days. Mine was a 5spd also, road race test pipe with Ultimate Racing dual catback. I would never listen to the radio. Windows down just hearing the rumble was enough for me.

I had the first gen AMS turbo back, non dumped o2 housing. It made some sexy sounds.

I do miss that sound. I can still call out an Evo when it drives by without even looking at it. First ticket ever in that thing was a ref ticket. Shooting 3ft flames on the freeway. Makes me want to get another one but then I wake up and remember I am a responsible adult now :hattip:

The wife said I can get one once I sell my wrx and 67 mustang and we get some debt paid off. Looking at old pictures makes me want to go find a corner to work on and get it over with. Lol.

I want another one but I'm a 1 vehicle person until we find a house. My lady also told me that once we get the house we want, I can get another one and turn it into a track car because she wants to take it out on the track as well but by the time that comes, Ill be an old man.

To the new Ford owners, you might want to troll the F150 forums. I almost purchased a Ford, but then I found out all of the problems F150 owners had, one big one is burnt valves on the Eco Boost at 100k. My sister in law purchased a 2016 Expedition with the Eco engine, it has been in the shop 4 times, 2 of those times it left her sitting on the interstate. And to the guy that got his $49k Ford for $34k, in 3 years look at how much more the Tacoma will be worth.

$11k off sticker is about $6k off invoice which is totally doable.

Some of the Ford dealers really amaze me with their retail pricing. I get no questions, no haggle pricing on my F150s of
    Invoice
    - $3900 fleet
    - holdback
    - finance
    - advertisement

There is a difference between working retail and fleet. Retail, the dealership is able to give more aggressive pricing, sometimes possibly beating my fleet pricing because they get credit for the sale whereas a fleet deal, they do not get any credit through the manufacture so its just strictly profit on their end but at the end of the day if they are not a high volume dealer, they do not want to deal with fleet.

However, I can not take the retail side of it because my customers are fleet customers and they get a credit from Ford at the end of the year on the amount of vehicles they take per year. If its a retail deal, the dealership gets the credit but my customer does not so I need my customers to get the credit for it.

I send 1 email to my contact with the vehicle and specs I need, 15 minutes later I have a buyers order with my pricing and the next day the vehicle is being delivered to my customer. In my line of work, I dont have time to sit and haggle a lower price with a typical salesguy which would take an hour +. My customers need the vehicle now because every minute they are without the vehicle is money lost on their end which is why we deal with fleet because its set fleet incentives on the volume the customer is taking. None of this going back and forth of "I want it for this much, with this incentive" only for them to come back with a counter offer.

On the retail side, your side, it may seem stupid to not buy retail for the bigger discount but when my customers are taking 100+ vehicles a year, the check they get for their volume at the end of the year from Ford greatly out weighs the money they would have saved by taking the retail incentives.

My post was trying to call out what I thought was just some BS because its not everyday you see a vehicle being discounted that much. Sometimes dealers will discount a vehicle by a huge margin, even taking a loss on the deal because on the back end of it all, they are pushing their retail number up and getting a bigger check from Ford but since this thread, I have never seen one discounted by $10k off invoice on a retail.

Fleet is also how I was able to call my Toyota dealer, factory order my truck to the specs I wanted for Invoice cost, minus fleet, holdback, and finance. I got my truck for $29k no questions in Dec of 2015.

So I guess nobody is buying ridgeliners, colorados, any 4 cylinders,
They can't sell em at the overinflated price. Price a Ford a 1 million, sell it for 30K and people convince themselves they know how to deal and shafted the dealer. Sure.

    I've lost count....
    Lol,
Have you read this forum? At times, every other post is about an issue someone has with their Tacoma. This forum had me nervous as hell when I first started looking at the 2016 Tacoma earlier this year.

To the OP, drive both and get what you like best for your budget. Both trucks will have their pluses and minuses. Post this thread over on an F150 forum and everyone there will tell you to go F150...obviously on this forum everyone will tell you to go with a Tacoma. For what it's worth my last 3 trucks have all been Toyota's...I ended ended up buying a F150 earlier this year and couldn't be happier. At the end of the day I think they are both good trucks...you just have to pick the one that fits your needs the best.
