These cars are so much cooler than the stubby wheels on the OP.

Well it isn't exactly a hot hatch, but a number of years ago I drove this little guy around for a month. Three on the floor, slower than steam off of cowshit, and half the time I had to push start it because the key wouldn't turn it over fast enough. But damn that thing was nimble in the sand. It went places my truck wouldn't have been able to reach. Hands down the most fun vehicle I've ever driven. 20190220_183655.jpg

God I loved that car. Dmoney was so far ahead of his time when he put that car together. G60 front flares on the rear and 215/40 were unheard of when he did that. I drooled over that build thread for years.

    https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthr...ey-gold-for-the-hunnies&highlight=green+money

I always looked to that car for inspiration when I built mine.

Same, I loved it when he built and when it popped up for sale locally I had to have it. It was a really fun car, but it needed a lot of engine work and I didn't have anywhere to work on it at the time so I ended up trading it for a Volvo 850R wagon, which I sold a few months later for the A4.

It’s crazy to think that was ‘03 or ‘04 when that car was put together. Between that car and this one the early 2000s were a magical time for us.

These euros are making this thread better! Maybe we should start a separate thread! Here’s a few of my previous dubs...

1982 VW rabbit caddy 1.6l diesel
1995 VW GTI VR6 (with hardwood floor in trunk)

I remember the hardwood floor trunk phase, that was fun. I don’t miss the inevitable progression towards tornado pink though.

They definitely faded lol. The hardwood was cool for a while, I think it was around 2007 that I did mine. I miss them but don’t miss the money pits.

I prefer the wide stance. I think yours are to small but its your truck. If they were 35's sticking out like that it would look sick. I'm pretty board with the thousands of Tacomas with flush mount tires on black wheels. Its like the goal is to make every truck look the same. I think stock wheels might be more custom then flush mount black wheels.

I personally love the wide look. But my truck needs to be wider.
