I would have had to be very drunk, like passed out, to let a bear eat me. And then if I were to somehow remember anything, I'd be too embarrassed to say anything.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
My recent bear encounter was only moments ago. Huck insisted on eating my pizza crust, which in turns leads to late night shits...while I did not see the culprit, my dog was going nuts on at the tree line and I just stepped in a big pile of scat! That’s the last time he is getting my crust.

Nah, 10mm for bears and a draco mini with a drum for everything else. I don't worry about critters being in the woods. I worry about the assclowns more

This is my plan if I ever hear a bear trying to get into the cab as well. I always just have my keys and a can of bear spray in the pocket next to me in the tent. Figure the alarm will scare it off and if not that’s what the spray is for.

    Second hand:

Guy was in RTT, dog in cab, had left a cooler (not IGBC) in bed or outside somewhere. Bear started shaking truck, dog started freaking out, guy hit the panic button on his key fob and the alarm scared the bear away. That's all I got :notsure: no big deal.

Check out my build thread - when I set up for the night anywhere now, I am fully packed up and if I need to hit the high speed geronimo button, I can get there without any breakdown. Part of this setup was I have a dog, so coyotes and whatnot don't sniff us out and come at us overnight. Lesson learned the hard way - also helps with rain too and if you leave a chair and cooler out overnight, you have to get out in the pouring rain in the morning to pack up before you drive away  so now after that whenever I kip up for the night, I am fully packed up - so I can get into the driver seat and skeedaddle whether it be rain, bears, whatever.

Nah the 10mm and draco is enough. Plus 458 too expensive.

I don’t know about anybody else but I don’t understand what you’re saying here. How can you take off without any breakdown with an RTT?

Never mind , I just saw your set up. You don’t have an RTT.

National Park Service does have a sense of humor:

    ·

READ: Please don’t run from bears or push your slower friends down in attempts of saving yourself.⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣
As a follow-up to a previous post, if you come upon a stationary bear, move away slowly and sideways; this allows you to keep an eye on the bear and avoid tripping. Moving sideways is also non-threatening to bears. Do NOT run, but if the bear follows, stop and hold your ground. Like dogs, they will chase fleeing animals. Do NOT climb a tree. Both grizzlies and black bears can climb trees.⁣⁣ Do NOT push down a slower friend (even if you think the friendship has run its course).
    ⁣⁣
Stay calm and remember that most bears do not want to attack you; they usually just want to be left alone. Don’t we all? ⁣⁣Identify yourself by making noise so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal. Help the bear recognize you as a human. We recommend using your voice. (Waving and showing off your opposable thumb means nothing to the bear) The bear may come closer or stand on its hind legs to get a better look or smell. A standing bear is usually curious, not threatening.⁣⁣
    ⁣⁣
Find more tips, check out https://www.nps.gov/subjects/bears/index.htm
P.S. We apologize to any “friends” who were brought on a hike as the “bait” or were sacrificed to save the group. You will be missed. ⁣⁣

Couldn’t you see the bear in rage mode totally ignoring your friend on the ground and continuing pursuit of you? I think it’s key that you are ahead but otherwise “comparable.”

injure him first so he attempts to hobble away thus triggering the predator’s prey drive even more. Think like Shane on The Walking Dead…

I have. Deserved it for paying thousands for a giant ground tent that immobilized my truck. Idiot me.

I think the ladder barely holds me, it would probably break under a bear.
