    Haha...not doing it...can't make me!
I use it a lot when I am camping or working on the truck.

The question is who has used it in first gear? :p

I think he means just to start when your in the space ship position...ready for launch:D. I can't reach the clutch pedal either when that happens. I end up taking many "breaks" when i am on the trail for photo's or just to rest and eyeball the scenery.

Climbing at low speed takes less torque than you think. And the starter has more torque than you think.

But like I said, if you stalled going into a step, a clutch start cancel start isn't going to work, cause you're going to need to "bump" it with a little gas to get over the step.

i've never tried it in gear...only when the truck is parked, out of gear and starting it without me having to get in the truck

so when you're in gear and you use the clutch cancel...does the truck immediately hop in gear and start moving?

Slowly, you have to give it gas.

If I remember correctly the purpose is when you stall on an incline and don't want to risk slipping backwards. I read about it here and tried it on my last trip out while in 4 low. I doubt I will use it again, maybe. Nice to know how it works.

Truck off (stalled) facing up hill, foot on brake, in first & 4low, clutch out, push the clutch start cancel, turn it over and give it a bit of gas while you do and let your foot off the brake as you go.

The truck starts and crawls forward. It was really weird. I had to force myself to do this, trust the truck. My last truck was a 4x4 Durango that had a mechanical 4x4 selector on the floor (still miss that). No fancy stuff.

I have also used it stopped on an incline. Same thing, in gear.4 low 1st you don't need brakes to hold the truck, compression does it fine.

Press the button, turn the key and ease on a bit of gas to keep climbing. No problem.

I've read you could also use it if you ran out of gas somewhere super sketchy (creek crossing?) to use the starter motor to move you out.

I've heard that too. But hell if you're that low on gas what in the world are you doing in super sketchy situations? That would be the definition of poor planning.

Maybe the motor dies for another reason that isn't a hydrolock haha. Maybe the computer gets wet or something. Maybe a rock shortly before the crossing punctured your tank.

Can't hurt to have the functionality anyways, though I haven't used it.

Well, I guess you do learn something new every day. I had no idea that it was to be used like that. I have only used it reaching in from the passenger side to start it while loading things into my truck in the morning. Good info!
