I'm wanting to get a W-5000 and I have an idea to mount it to my roll bar instead of my roof. If anybody has a writeup or some pics and some info about how it mounts and whatnot, that would be great. Keep in mind: I'm talking about the roof mount W-5000, not the magnetic or trunk mount ones.

My question to you would be "how are you fab'n the roll-bar to accomodate this mount ??".....Can you also provide for a "GOOD" ground through your roll-bar ???

I work in the excavating business and most our equipment and all of the trucks have CB antennas attached in one form or another.....
The ONLY place we have roof mounts is on the Peterbilt tractors, center of their cabs...both have the 5000's ;)..
Everything else is either on a mirror mount or "Hard mounted' onto a plate with assorted height stems...Wilson makes 3" stubby's all the way up to 18" long.....

If your asking about Wilson's...best there is ,hands down...from the "glass whips" all the way up to the 5000's....we "beat" them to death and they still hold up....

Well I was going to weld a plate between the 2 center lights on the roll bar and have the base mounted to that. I have my 2 firestik II's mounted on it right now and they seem to be grounding out just fine, even through the paint. So I figured the wilson would work the same way.
