Winston Salem here. just acquired my 2018 Super White TRD Sport 2 weeks ago today. love this thing so far. I have removed all the badges and TRD stickers off the bed, tinted the windows with Suntek CXP45 on the 2 front doors, CXP18 on the back half and CIR70 on the full windshield, installed Go Rhino Dominator D2 step bars and Toyota bed mat. my new TRD Sema wheels are sitting in the shop waiting for their new 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers. I see a bunch of Tacomas in the Winston Salem area alone, so I know they are out there. we tint a bunch of them in our shop too.

Hope you know an inspector to pass that front windshield.

haha, nope. I take it off each year. one of the benefits of working at a tint shop. honestly, I bet an inspector wouldn't even know it was tinted though. it is virtually clear, but it blocks a lot of heat and keeps the harmful UV rays off the dash.

Hope a cop doesn't bust you either. I have the top strip tinted to 12% and I just put one of the reflective screens up when I park. I noticed a significant difference in temps when I got mine tinted.
I am right down the road from you in Burlington. What shop do you work at. I would like to ride up there and get a quote on some tint on my cap and back glass.

There is no way a cop or anybody else would even know its on there unless i showed it to them honestly. We tint a lot of LEOs vehicles the same way.

We are in Clemmons, Innovative Solar Control.

Dude you are like 30 min down the rd or so and I head that direction on a regular basis. The tint place that did mine was all whiny about pulling my cap to do the back window of the truck so they didn't do that and I'd like it done in like a 35 since it is already factory tinted. I don't want that so dark I can't see out the back very well. Also is there some sort of film or tint you can put on the side view mirrors to reduce glare from headlights?

why would they need to pull the cap to tint the back glass? they must hand cut their film. ours is cut off of a vinyl plotter so we wouldn't need to remove it. if you want the cap itself tinted we would have to cut those windows by hand, as there isn't a pattern for them.

as for the film on the side mirrors, unfortunately there isn't such a thing. regular window tint won't work, it can't hold up to the elements being on the outside of the vehicle. and to my knowledge nobody makes any kind of film for the mirrors. we could tint your front doors if they aren't tinted now, that will help with the glare some.

Yeah they hand cut their film.

Damnit that sucks about the mirrors VW and some other euro brands have that blue tint to their mirrors from the factory which helps with the glare. I already have my front door windows tinted.

I got pulled over on 52 in Winston by a DOT officer for my tint once. He immediately knew my windshield was tinted and gave me a ticket...fucker

Had to remove it and go by a NCHP office for them to sign off on it so the ticket could get dropped.

I need to redo the windshield though, especially with summer approaching.

Got ya so it was a shp just the DMV division one. We use to have DMV officers abt 15 yrs ago but then they merged them into the shp.

as many tint tickets as I have gotten in the past, I have never been written one for my windshield. and I always tint it. I used to do the windshield in 35% but now as I am getting older and my eyes are going to crap at night I use the 70% film. it is virtually clear but I get heat rejection of a much darker film. I am almost certain if you just saw my truck you would have no idea the windshield was even tinted.

Interesting. I may have to check that out for myself and have a think on that. The biggest thing for me is heat rejection from the sun.

absolutely. that is the only reason I tint my windshields. I always use a full ceramic film or nano-ceramic film on my vehicles. tint looks great but I can't stand to feel the heat coming in on me either.
