Enough to make it a lot of fun!
I would totally have to agree with you on that fact. One gas motor is enough to worry about. I couldn't imagine having to worry about two.

My friend has a '65 super beetle "German police car". We're not sure if it truly was or not...

Btw, bugs and Ghia's are two of the best cars in the snow, sans chains, studs, etc.

And this thing wasn't even a motor! It was basically a 2 gallon gas tank, in the passenger compartment, spitting out fire! Your dog trips over a hose and kablooey.

I can support that statement. I grew up in the mountains of colorado. The town I lived in would get 200+ inches of snow a year. I remember several winter days I would wake up to 1-2 feet of snow on my bug and or driving home from school or work with 6" on the roads.

My family has a 72' bug that we restored over 15 years ago. It has collector plates now. It was my great grandfathers and he had it since it was basically new and its been passed on down through the family and will most likely get passed on down to me when the time comes. My grandfather always jokes that if you can drive it you can drive any car out there as its an absolute beast to drive with cable brakes and no power steering. It doesn't get driven too often these days but I plan on insuring it and taking it out for a drive this summer.
I don't think I have any photos of it on this computer. I'll have to take a few.

It's that classic blue VW bug color, here's a pic of one similar.

I think old VW's are as close as you can feel to being connected to the road while driving, all the shortcomings be damned.

I had a 59 and 68 Type I, and a 66 and 70 Type II. Fun to mess with, but getting good quality parts is more and more difficult. The Brazilian stuff is mostly crap, and the NOS German stuff is expensive.

True, very... There are a gabillion outfits that sell old VW parts, but very very few of any real quality.
