Ugh, I've wanted one for so long!
I've always had an infatuation with VWs.... someday the right one will jump in front of me and I'll pull the trigger. My uncle has a pristine 1971 camper bus, I believe he bought it in 1973 so he's the second owner. The thing is the tits. I learned how to drive a manual in it.

I believe the gas heaters were a factory option, I went on a mountain trip with a guy in Canada who had one.

Because when you're in the middle of nowhere and the skinny pedal in yer Type II drops to the floor cuz the cable finally rusted thru... and you can get home by ripping out speaker cable to run from the throttle, thru inside, & around the (non-functional) p-brake handle.

And.... a coffee can full of pennies can be used as cruise control.

You know why I know. :spy:

Ha. That happened to me too once, on an old bug I was fixing up. Throttle cable busted, used what was left of it to pull some stout fishing line through (had some with me, no idea why) hooked up both ends, good as new :D whole operation took 10 minutes and I was back up and running.
