Just bought a 2002 Double Cab TRD 4x4 on Saturday. Check engine light comes on couple days ago. Have my dealership do a smoke test on it now I need a new fuel tank...

However, they are almost impossible to find, and the ones I have found are brand new going for $300-$400.

With that said, anybody know of a shop, website, or store that sells either used, aftermarket, or cheaper priced new ones?

Very much appreciated if someone could help me out!

I fixed a leak in a fuel tank on my F250 with some epoxy patch material made for fuel tanks.

Smoke was coming from the tank when they did the smoke test...I could feel the smoke vapor coming through the tank and you could see the streams of smoke vapor...

Not sure if the epoxy will work? In my county we have an emissions checks so that factors in as well.

When I bought mine last October it came with a leaking fuel tank. It was rusted through on top so I didn't know until I filled it up.

Turned out the seller (used dealer) replaced it free, but while waiting to sort it out I found a few promising looking specimens on eBay. Looks like they start about $225 shipped currently for used, same prices you quoted for new ones. You might consider that a used tank off the truck is easy to inspect, paint, coat etc...
