Wish I had a long bed, running out of panty storage from all the ones that get thrown my way.

Absolutely love mine! No issues so far! Honestly have owned about 15 Toyotas in the past years and other than regular maintenance, I have not had to do a thing.

You have to take things in context and with a grain of salt. The lights flashing when off likely refers to my thread. You spend a lot of time atbelow 0 F? If not the issue I described would have no effect on you even if every Tacoma has it. So far, it also does not appear to have any effect on actuall operation.

As for brake lines freezing, I can say that does not happen at -38, at the temps where it could happen you are talking about needing to increase your antifreeze concentration (-45 F if in the US, -55 if in Canada), and being below the pour point of most transmission and differential fluids (-50 to -60 depending on fluid).

Now, the parking brake cable will get moister in it and freeze. A solid yank breaks it free reliably. This is really only an issue when dancing around the freezing point.

Overall, drive it, use it, enjoy it. Most issues on here are blown out of proportion. If you like your money, stay off of this forum. Hell, the factory shift knob on my stick works fine, but thanks to this form I needlessly want to replace it. Many of the "problems" are things people would easily live with if not told about them.

2007 with 32,700 miles. Only issue so far was a burned out tail light bulb and the brakes froze up once after washing the truck. Frame is 100% rust free.... looks like the day i brought it home 14 years ago ( dry climate.) Cleaned the underside the other day and applied Fluid Film to frame (for the first time) and new leaf pack. Sprayed BoeshieldT9 on new coilovers, uca's, and shocks (less greasy and is clear compared to Fluid Film.) My advice... if the roads are wet and get salted where you live rust proof the truck when new... and every year after.

Nothing wrong with optimism but you really can't say with any certainty that a potential buyer won't have any of the issues he mentioned arise at some point. Same can be said for any manufacturer about pretty much anything. Perfection is nowhere to be found. Act accordingly.

My 16 has been reliable.Bought it with 40k now has 100k oil changes, tires no problems.I use it and abuse it.Might have to put better leaf springs in at some point - I put heavy stuff in the bed because it's a truck. It's an absolute beast in the snow maybe even the best vehicle in the snow I've ever had.
Hate how it always wants to be in 6th gear but it easily gets 21mpg

Currently trying to pick my next Toyota!
I just got a 2022. Had the exact same one in a 2018. Price difference was only $2k with no added markup. Not bad considering the crazy inflation of groceries, gas, homes and everything else. Just have to find a dealer not gouging people which wasn't that hard.

My new one isn't perfect. Still on the fence about keeping it. 750 miles on it. Sits in the garage while I think about it since we have 3 vehicles.

ARE topper. Mud guards, factory steps, third bed rail behind cab, tacorail accessory holder, ram mount tablet mount, hood wrap and retro stripes. Bug shield and window shields. Molle seat cover on tear seat.
No problems at all. Have had 2, both no issues. Out of thousands on the road and all the mods done to them, I'm really surprised there aren't more complaints.

There are no perfect vehicles. 48 years of driving experience and car buying here.

How many people do you think come in this forum specifically to say, hey everyone, my truck has been trouble-free for a year!

People come on here, among many other reasons, to post an issue they’re having, looking for help with diagnosis or repair, to see if others are having the same issue, and so on. This is not a scientific dataset of reliability. It’s skewed waaaaay in one direction.

This forum contains 90% daisies who complain about the smallest paper cut. Worry not. Still the best truck on the market bar none.

To answer you. 2017 not one issue. Ever.
