I live in california so the only time would use 4X4 it when I go snow boarding up in the mountains. What is a truck without four wheel drive?

I wish I had 4x4, but honestly I would almost never use it. The 4x4 function of our F-150 has been used maybe 10-15 times in 8 years, and even then it wasn't necessary...just convenient.

I also enjoy my amazing fuel economy, and the extra 3k in my pocket.

2wd is not a option for those of us that live in northeast. Its hard to even find a pre-runner in these parts.

Better to have and not need, than need and not have!

4x4 was a must have. I drive from the bay to tahoe a few times a year.

i've gotten stuck a handful of times... i always go with someone who has 4x4 so they can pull me out- i've never had a 2wd truck before, i'm not :frusty: but my next one will definitely have it.

Only reason I would need a 4x4 is to get me out of the a pot hole out here ... Sometimes I think I should have buts it's ok .. Never needed one

    Does Plasti-Dip count as a mod ?
No I have no regret. I bought the 4x4. Rather than wonder if I'll ever need it, I figured for the relatively small difference in costs, I would go ahead and get all the truck I could afford.

And, I used 4wd for the first time this past Sunday. In the sand / mud. All by myself in the forest. Had fun !

    +1

I bought my truck in San Diego. Then I started thinking of offroading and kinda wanted a 4x4 there, now that I've moved to TX and hunt out in the country, it sure would be nice. Oh well.

    I love my truck anyway.

I regret it all the time! But I hear you can do some stuff with 2wd... But you need a 4x4 babysitter to pull ya around. If anyone knows of good trails for 2wd please post!

I go out by myself all the time. You just need to have a hi-lift setup with some straps and a chain so you can winch yourself...and a brain. I have only been stuck once because I beached the truck on my skid-plate. Just realize you have limitations and don't be dumb about it. :p

I thought I might but I've been camping and banging around the woods on logging roads cutting firewood and never needed it. My last truck was a 4x4 and I could probably count on 1 hand the number of times I actually NEEDED it. I don't regret not buying it. I could afford whatever I wanted and I just didn't figure I'd use it very much if at all.

I had an '08 access cab sr5, traded it in for a '11 dc trd 4x4 sport. Love it, should have bought it in '08.
