I used to run a Powerdyne supercharger on my old 93 Z28 and it only produced around 4.5 lbs of boost so it didn't use an intercooler or any type of bypass or blowoff valve. I ran it that way for 5 years and around 45K miles and never had any problems so I was wondering if anybody has tried running a Tacoma with lower boost (5-7 lb range) without an intercooler and how did it run? I know my 93 Z28 was speed density (no MAF) and the supercharger setup came with an FMU and I added an off the shelf SLP chip (which did not know about the boost) and SVO 24 lb injectors and it ran great.

    3.4 supercharger has no IC.

I ran my turbo with no Ic to get it going, but noticed 40° cooler Iat once I added a side mount Ic. I'm hoping that number goes even lower once I put the larger front mount on.

Boosted applications are always about heat management. Colder air is denser, and colder air is less likely to auto ignite in the combustion chamber.

Its always better for performance to run a intercooler. The other option would be alcohol or methanol fuel.
