All you people running Elka, have you looked into rebuilding your shocks? I know Elka will rebuild them if you ship them to their shop but that isn't exactly a cheap plan and you wouldn't have your suspension for a couple weeks.
Basically this is the only thing keeping me from going with Elka instead of Fox.

I know there's an authorized shop in Ohio...for what it's worth.

I hear ya, I won't sweat it since I get really great UPS rates through my work...wonder if Headstrong or Krave or Toytek can/will sell/source rebuilt kits??

Hey Dan, how did your set up make it through the winter? I'm looking at this set up as well, and would be interested in hearing an "after winter update" if you have time, my application is 80% pavement, 20% logging road, as I live on one and every day for 4min my suspention takes a beating if I want to move along at atleast 40km... lol
    Cheers!

This upcoming weekend I'll take some pictures and do a little write up.
Quick version is that they did great! I haven't fully inspected them yet.

Dan, I too am very interested to hear how your suspension faired over winter. Sounds like your experience with Krave was very good too?

I have the 2.5 RRs instead of the IFP but my shocks look brand new after an Alberta winter other than the hose fittings for the reservoirs. Shock body and shafts are in perfect shape.

My 2.5 IFPs and the 2.0 rears look brand new after a winter in Ohio. I’m super impressed compared to how bad my old Bilstein setup looked after one salt bath…

Great to hear some positive post winter reviews. That is the one of the biggest reasons I went Elka (2.0s). My set finally arrived and ill put them on this week. Stoked to get this thing out.

Just got them installed. My initial impressions are that the rear shocks are way stiffer than the stock (Tacoma trd sport). When I hit a speed bump in my city going at 30mph it almost feel like I’m bottoming out in the rear. I’m running the stock leafs. Is this normal?

The rear shocks should never provide a "stiffer" ride. The springs (coil in the front, leaf in the back) will provide the stiffness.
Have you added any weight to the rear?
Look at Timbren active bump stops. I love mine and I don't ever feel the "bottom out" anymore.

I didn't add any extra weight to the bed, I just feel like the bump stopper is hitting hard and that never happened to me before with the stock config. It's like the new shocks go thru the travel more linear and less progressive. I added 2.5" lift in the front and whatever the new Elkas have in the rear. I am wondering if I need an extra leaf or just to replace the leaf pack?

The rear shocks won't provide any lift. The rear lift comes from altering the leaf packs. New bigger leaf packs, add-a-leaf, or a block.
The rear shock simply controls (dampens) the leaf from bouncing up and down repeatedly.

That's probably one of the most annoying YouTubers I've ever seen LOL but thanks for the link. Time for me to get new leafs and lift it in the back I guess.

    Hi Nick,

Is your setup 2.5 IFP Front and 2.0 IFP Rear? If it is, how's the ride quality? I do 95% pavement and 5% off-roading so I'm aiming for that "plush" daily driving feeling while dealing with the good ol' California traffic and roads. Thank you!

I run Elkas on all four corners of my 2021 TRD Pro. It's a nice lift that isn't small but not huge. I not only take this truck up in the hills around the Reno Tahoe area for fly fishing, hunting, shooting, and snowboarding etc but commute to San Francisco once a month for business. The truck is HIGHLY capable off road and on road. I have also road tripped to Los Angeles in this truck from Reno which is an 8 hour drive. I returned pulling a flat bed trailer back with porsche on it. Ride quality was perfect. My set up is Elkas, ICON multi stage leafs, and Elevation Upper controls. ZERO probs. I am deeply impressed with Elka and Elevate so far. https://www.elevatesuspension.com/c...nt-billet-uniball-heim-uca-toyota-tacoma-2005
