Considering that my gas powered Dodge got a best average of 12 mpg, and the WORST tank I have gotten from the Tacoma has been 15, Im not selling it.

I don’t think Al Gore would approve of our attitudes (Of course his carbon footprint is probably 20 times that of the average Tacoma owner)

Higher gas prices prompted me to buy....a motorcycle! Now that Fall is here though the Tacoma is getting driven more often.

No, never want to sell, even if prices go higher.

To get into debt again in the name of fuel economy. That's rediculous!

It is a crazy idea because the small amount of money you save in gas will never offset the price of the new car purchased. Seen a news piece that showed that the idea to purchase a fuel efficient car, with the idea to save money on gas, would't pay itself off for many, many, many years. I think by the time you actually realized savings, the car would have mechanically deteriorated. Something like 25+ years for payoff.

So the idea to buy a whole new car to save money on gas is CRAZY.

    BUT,

The idea of buying a fuel efficent car in order to use less gas in the future and to do your part to conserve the environment is valid. This would be a future move when the truck expires.

But to just sell the truck in order to buy something fuel efficient to save money is nuts. Again, the money you save on gas will never offset the new expense of the car.

I wouldn't even say that that's valid a valid reason, because you're old car is still going to be on the road being driven by someone else who can't afford a brand new hybrid. I would say that the only valid reason is if you were planning on buying a new car anyway, and then decided which model based on your desire to save money or conserve the environment.

Gas prices are lower than they have been in 6 months at least. Possibly more like a year. Why sell, and much less... why complain? You WILL BUY GAS, and it doesnt matter a bit how much it is. You can save on gas with a Smart car, and pay more when YOUR DEAD, you can get a Hybrid and save on gas, but pay out of pocket for a new set of batteries in 5 to 7 years.. 7-$100000. Great savings!! Ill stick to safe, CO2 producing, gas guzzling compfort and function.

Oh, you left out the last sentence, the part where I say, when the truck expires, dies, goes bad. So it won't be on the road, and I do have to get a new car.

I am averaging over 24MPG in my V6 Double cab my best tank to date was 26.66MPG. Smart Cars, as cool as I think they are, would not haul my bikes.

Yes I think those smart cars are cool, but you might find a much friendlier crowd over at www.eccomodder.com and then you could learn how to get better fuel economy on both of your vehicles.

Sell??? Never!!! I love my truck - have to have a truck. Ever go to Lowe's or Home Depot with a car?? You have to find someone to haul your stuff home. That and who wants to put bags of dirt or manure in their car?? Not me if I have a choice and I do.

That and vacations - don't like sitting down so low when driving across country on I-20 & I-10. I want to at least see what's going on around me. To not worry about which SUV or big truck is going to run me over. In my Taco I can play with the bigdogs and not worry so much about getting squashed :D

And I have POWER to pass the idots who are supposed to MERGE onto the highway, yet expect you to accomodate them. :bananadance:
