If I didn't need a truck, then I might consider it.

    Thankfully, I need it. :D

I did it again. Got tired of paying truck payments and gas and traded in for a 2015 Honda Accord Sport since I enjoyed my 2013 Sport so much.
I came from a Mazda3 sedan, so no, gas prices don't affect me.

This is Knight Rider's new car. Here are the details...

The Attack KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) has the ability to go on the offensive against enemies at any moment -- has a weapons systems to match that of a jet fighter, a body that can transform into other vehicles, and access to military satellite systems so it can track anyone anywhere. Attack KITT gets 167 miles to the gallon, comes equipped with infrared night-vision headlights, contains a movable windshield touch-screen, and can use artificial intelligence to hack into any outside system.

I would avoid any negative comments or the car may come after you.

I'd like to put my carbon footprint on Algore's forehead.

90-1. This may be the most lopsided poll ever, not to mention the dumbest. I mean, really, asking this sort of thing on a truck enthusiasts site.

    Hey Ya'll

I get that milage with techniques that I learned at www.ecomodder.com/ , and it's not really that difficult.

I don't use all of the hypermiling techniques, just a few.

    1. Inflated tires to the max sidewall rating. It rides a teensy bit rougher, but I barely notice.

    2. Avoid exceeding 2000 RPM

    3. Avoid mashing the go pedal.

    4. Keep it down to the speed limit, and avoid exceeding 60MPH. I drive in the right lane, and laugh when people in their big trucks and SUVs floor it to pass me. Just leave early enough to drive at a slower speed. If I am late I might speed up, but avoiding being late helps avoid speeding, and keeps the boss happy.

    5. Avoid excessive idling. I turn it off in drive throughs, and at long lights.

    6. Keep windows up on highway.

    7. Use A/C as little as possible. I do live in Aridzona, so the A/C does get used, but I work at night, so I turn it off when I can.

    8. Don't haul unecessary weight around.

    9. Tonneau cover.

    10. Pulse and glide. (I use this sparingly)

    11. Neutral coasting to red lights, and down hill. I leave engine running to keep my auto trans lubricated, but some people with manual transmissions use engine off coasting. Eng Off Coasting aka EOC is potentially dangerous if you are not paying attention, and I don't reccommend it, but it does save lots of gas.

    12. Get one of these http://www.scangauge.com/products/ , it gives instant fuel economy, and can be used to adjust your driving for max fuel economy. This is on my list, I don't have one yet.

Another one of the good things about driving this way is that my engine will last longer than the guy who hot rods his truck pushing redline all the time.

I used to be a leadfoot, and my other vehicle is a motorcycle which made me want to drive faster, but I haven't ridden it to work since I got my Tacoma. I needed a truck for hauling various things, and I don't think I could have made a better choice. If gas went to $10.00 a gallon I'd still keep the Tacoma, and I'd drive my motorcycle more.

Here is a link to my fuel log where I have documented my Taco's fuel consumption since I bought it. http://ecomodder.com/forum/em-fuel-log.php?vehicleid=519

    Later,

    Allan Greenblazer

There is no way I would jump through all these hoops to save a few dollars per month on gas. These techniques inhibit the flow of traffic, kind of like some idiot taking a call on their cell phone who slows down 10mph. Every time I get stuck behind someone driving like this I feel like running them off the road.

Kinda fall in the same catagory as people that cant handle getting on the freeway going WITH the flow of traffic and causing, or nearly causing accidents, Some people need to either get a bike, stay home, of be introduced to the ditch!

And in responce to the "My engine will last longer" comment... piddle assing around and never exceding 2000 RPM is gentle on the engine, so gently that it claugs everything up. Things are engeneered to work optimally when used as the average person uses it.

Yup. There's a bozo with a Prius around here that drives 50mph in a 75mph zone on the Interstate. He should at least be driving with his hazards on, or take the highway where the speed limit is 50mph, because he IS a safety hazard driving 25mph below the speed limit on the Interstate, but I'm sure that using the hazard lights wastes precious gasoline
