    Oh where to start :/

Extremely dangerous. Plus, you're causing extreme premature wearing of the tire. Save your 0.02 cents a mile on gas to buy new tires 20,000miles early. Makes sense......

It's a tacoma. You bought it. Enjoy it. Drive it. 2000RPM, i get passed by granny with a walker and tennis ball feet on it.

Only thing sensible here, just don't refuse to do it if needed.

Doing the speedlimit is ok. Going under is ok when conditions warrant it (aka Midwest snow). In Arizona, the 'max' limit is the real lower limit to not inhibit traffic and piss people off. I do more than that just merging onto the freeway from the onramp, and so does pretty much everyone else I've watched and ridden with. Doing 60mph in a 75mph zone (or 80mph zone in Texas) is a deathwish... people are realistically doing at least 80 - 90.

At least you have the right tool for it, if you get hit you'll be aight.

Makes sense. Only excessive on/off puts a lot of wear on the starter, and the hardest work your engine will ever do is start.

Agreed. A/C over 50mph is more efficient than windows down.

3am is rather nice in az these days with the windows down :p

Common sense most ignore. Good call. That being said, I doubt it makes much of a difference on our 4L v6's.

In the air if it actually helps or detours, or does nothing.

Not sure what you mean by this, but it doesn't sound like it's safe.

This does help, in fact I used to do it with my G35 6MT all the time. But, it was a manual trans. Also, at least in Arizona please note it IS illegal to do. It's in the laws, I actually looked that up once... It's breaking the part about maintaining full control of your vehicle at all times. (never agreed with it though, as long as the engine is running you have full ABS and power steering).

Not if it's well maintained, and in reality they'll be burning up the contaminates better. Also if you're doing the shut engine off/on techniques you listed, I'll place a solid wager you'll be in the shop first.

And these are the same people insist that you only need to let your engine warm up for 60 seconds before driving it when it's -30 outside, with no regard for what happens to an engine when it's driven that cold.

first off don't listen to greenblazer, never ever shut your truck off at lights. not only does it prematurely kill your starter it isn't to good for your engine either. also safty reasons. if u are at a light and some idiot behind u comes barraling and u have to move up so u dont get rear ended u are a sitting duck like an idiot with your truck off, lol.

    2. your tire pressure increases in your tire when it heats up while u drive. if u inflate your tires to max tire pressure when u drive down the highway u are exceeding your max tire pressure geus whats next? a blow out and possibly crashing or rolling your truck. not smart.

and if u figure ill take my chances allrsdup is an idiot that wont happen. thats fine too but your tires wearing out in half the time inflated that high. totally outways the very little diff. in fuel economy.

and the third idiodic statement. neutral coasting. never do this again an unsafe and vulnerable situation u leave your self in. if u have to get on it quick to move out of the way of some idiot on the rd and u stomp on it and then u realize oh sh** its in neutral. might be to late.

Most tires list a "Max. cold" on their sidwall. The "cold" psi accounts for air psi increase as the tire is driven on.

    True.

If coasting in neutral and you have an automatic, your tranny will over heat, as the fluid is not circulating as it need to be.

If you put that lil' car into the bed of your Taco then that lil' pup will get even better gas mileage, and you'll look good doing it too...

I just bought my first Taco, a 2009 4 cly 4x4 SR5. I had a 2005 Dakota V6 so going to the 4 cyl Taco has already saved me gas! It has pretty good pep...surprising really! No where near as much as it's big brother the Taco 4L V6...obviously...but more than enough to keep up. I don't even miss the V6 Dakota.

Too bad you already got your other ride, you could've traded for one of like mine and kept all the things you added to your Taco and had better gas milage to boot!

While you could probably still 4x4 with the 4 cyl Taco it's not what I do with mine. I'll use my 4x4 for those days in winter when the roads get iced and snowy to keep on trucking! For me this Taco is the best of both worlds!

Averaged 19mpg in my Audi V-6 A4, now average 19mpg in my V-6 Tacoma DC and can haul stuff, drive over stuff, tow stuff and probably out-accelerate the A4. I liked the Audi, I love the Tacoma. Gas is down to $3.25 in Des Moines- almost sounds cheap!

It's so sad how $3.25 sounds cheap. I'm jealous!

Hypermilers are dangerous and they suck. They are selfish and have no regard for anyone else on the road.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

I use my truck as a truck so gas prices aren't in the numbers for me. Can't do what I do with a hybrid or Honda

I bought my Tacoma almost two months ago when gas was still $4 here. I drove a 2006 Honda Civic before. The Civic was nice, I treated it great, it was fun to drive, and the gas mileage was pretty good. But I always wanted a Tacoma. One of the only trucks I've liked so when I had the chance to get one I went for it. It was sad seeing the Civic go but I'm much happier with the Tacoma. I like sitting up higher, having more room for passengers, the Tacoma has a better over all build quality then the Civic, the Tacoma offers more versatile then the Civic ever could. Yeah I pay a little more a month in payment (less in insurance though) and a little more at the pump, I do fill up less often in the Tacoma then I did in the Civic though. Your going to have to pay for gas regardless of what you drive. Why not pay for gas for something you really want to drive?

That and many of them say they are "trying to reduce Americas dependency on foreign oil", or "trying to reduce their carbon footprint", but they don't realize that while they may be using less gas, the ten cars behind them are using more gas by continually slowing down and speeding up.

That is also a very good point. Actually makes more sense than my emotional response.
