    1996 Toyota T100 3.4L 5FZ-FE V6 Magnuson Supercharged 5 Speed Manual Transmission
"Brand New" Magnuson/TRD MP62 Supercharger I started with the stock 2.36" Pulley which was too weak at approx 5.5psi, then went to a 2.2" URD pulley @ approx 7psi then a 2.1" URD pulley @ approx 8-9.0 psi then finally settled with a "Pulley Boys Brand" 2.0" Pulley and it Boosts her11PSI sometimes a tad higher mainly on the freeway at higher MPH but it seems to average about 9.5-11.0 PSI with that 2.0" pulley with a brand new Gates S/C Belt plus the new Magnuson S/C came with the newest updated belt tensioner assembly so i know for a fact im not getting any belt slipping. Plus at approx 4,800ft above sea level a max PSI of 11-11.5 isn't too bad at alI!! I live here in Beautiful Northern Utah. Ok back to my modification list... Snow Performance Stage 2 Water Methanol Injection Systems and damn do I absolutely love This Water/Methanol Kit made by "Mr. Matt Snow" and the boys over at Snow Performance! Right up next to the Supercharger, the Water/Methanol Injection Kit was by far my best modification!!! WOW can i tell a difference and not just a power difference. Since these 3rd gen S/C don't come with an intercooler This Snow Performance Meth Kit in my opinion cools better than an actual intercooler! Keeps those IA Temps cool, lowers internal engine temperatures by over 100 degrees!!! Drastically reduces ping and pre detonation which allows you to really advance that Ignition Timing even on a Supercharged Application where normally you'd be Retarding Timing. With my setup I actually am able to advance my WOT Timing by up to 10 degrees!!! Some more advantages of Water Methanol Injection are as its injecting it actually steam cleans your engine! I'm not even kidding. My motor is now 100 % carbon deposit free! There are other benefits of Water/Methanol Injection i'm sure, I've missed but it's time to be moving on. Full Performance Exhaust from CAT Back, (My headers I already have are being installed next!) High Flow CAT, 2.75" or 3"?? Piping all the way to the tail pipe! With Magnaflow Muffler. 2 Steps Colder Spark Plugs "Denso IK22's" High Performance Aftermarket Ignition Coils With NGK Plug Wires. Aftermarket "4 Core" All Aluminum Radiator. 30-4110 UEGO Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge AFR 52mm with 4.9 LSU Sensor, wideband Sensor, WideBand A/F Ratio UEGO O2 Controller Gauge Kit. Auto Meter 0-15 PSI Boost Gauge. Unichip PNP With 5 MAP Selector Switch & Own Custom Tuning Software For My Timing and Fuel and What Not. Installed a new Denso OEM MAF. Installed new aftermarket 305cc Fuel Injectors. Installed I also installed a aftermarket Aeromotive 11542 Fuel Pump (340 Series Stealth In-Tank Fuel Pump!) OH I got some wheels and tires from a '16-'22 Tacoma that are slightly larger and look pretty good i think! Well at the moment that's about all the main mods I can think of. I run absolutely nothing but ALL Amsoil Synthetic Products in my T100. Starting with 5w30 Signature Series 100 % Synthetic Engine Oil, an EA15K51 Full Flow Synthetic Nano Fiber Technology Oil Filter, Amsoil Dot 4 Synthetic Brake Fluid in my entire front and rear brake systems, and my clutch system! Amsoil Premium Antifreeze good for 150,000 miles, 75w90 Severe Gear Oil for the Rear Differential, Transfer Case, Front Differential, 75w50 Manual Transmission Gear Oil for my 5 Speed Manual Transmission, Multipurpose Synthetic Greese NLGI#2 and I can't leave out good old PI Fuel Treatment! Also run nothing but Chevron 91 Octane "Ethanol Free" Gasoline in her as well! Oh I also updated my Fuel Pressure Regulator by replacing with only a OEM Factory Toyota Part! Also replaced both the fuel lines going from the fuel tank into the fuel filter and the fuel line leading out of the filter up to the fuel rail and of course I only used OEM Factory Toyota Parts! Yes while I was down there upgrading the in tank monster of a fuel pump and new fuel lines I replaced my fuel filter with yes a OEM Factory Toyota Part "Replaced every 5K" So by wanting to Supercharge my "1996 Model T100" But being told it's pretty much impossible to do so by many people, I did it! No it wasn't easy nor was is cheap! Here's the long story short, I had to swap out my factory '96 T100 5VZ-FE "5 Speed Manual Tranny" ECU with a ECU from a 1997 model year which also had to be a manual tranny for the ECU Pinouts to connect properly. Apparently in mid 1996 Toyota and their T100 model were finally moderzing their ECU systems because the '96 T100 ECU lacked the technology and the ability for their ECU to "Automatically advance the Ignition Timing" which is required in order to produce the extra power when running a Supercharger on those years and models of Toyota's. Thats why TRD or Magnuson never did advertise their MP62 Root Style Superchargers were compatible with a 1995 or 1996 Model year T100. But in the 1997 and 1998 Model year of the Toyota T100 Both TRD and Magnuson we're fully compatible due to the change in Toyota's ECU's! Anyhow lessend learned that it's 100% possible to Supercharge your '95&'96 Toyota T100 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 with both the Auto and Manual Transmissions!!! So in order for me to Magnuson Supercharge my 1996 T100 I also had to make a few more modifications such as a Brand New 1997 Toyota T100 Throttle Body that came with everything attached including a new 3 Pin TPS, etc. The '96 Throttle Body and TPS is different than the '97 the 97 has a 3 wire TPS vs. a 4 wire TPS with the '96 setup which as you could have guessed the '97 ECU I had to install wouldn't of been compatible with the older 4 wire style '96 TPS. The 1997 T100's had what's called a Fuel pressure sensor for the fuel tank. Which I had to track down one of those sensors and wire it into my 1997 ECU so it wouldn't throw a PO450 OBDII Code and not allow it to pass emissions. There's more stuff I had to do to it to make it work. If you wanna know send me a PM. These dyno numbers where taken before I had the chance to install the Unichip Piggyback ECU. Alright dyno numbers taken, 3/1/2022 309.7@4,850 Flywheel HP 371.1@3,650 Flywheel TQ Numbers corrected to Rear Wheel HP&TQ 270.9@4,900 Rear Wheel HP 324.3@3,600 Rear Wheel TQ Not too shabby seeing how the engine original with over 282,000 miles on it! Plus I'm at approx 4,800ft above sea level Toyota claims that the 3.4L 5VZ-FE "Tacoma" They don't mention the T100 but I'm sure it's the same wouldn't you guys think? Anyway Toyota says stock as in at the flywheel is 190HP & 217 TQ So my T100 coming in at 309.7 Flywheel HP And. 371.1 Flywheel TQ Is pretty darn good! One of these days I'd like to Turbocharge it!!!!
I recently purchased a Unichip Piggyback PNP System Part Number 1020111. This Model is made for Toyota Tacoma '96-'04, 4Runner '96-'02 and is compatible "Even though on the Unichip's website they do not list the 1996-1998 Toyota T100 as them making a Unichip Product for that application. However you can get it too work on the T100's you just need to customize the way and where your going to mount the Unichip Computer and wiring. Also if you do plan on buying a Unichip for your T100 I do highly recommend it I just don't recommend buying the "Plug and Play" Model like I did because there wiring and pin out connections take up alot of room. So buy the model where it has you simply has you solder the wires in which now I see after buying the PNP kit how simple soldering them would have been! You see on the 4Runner and Tacoma models the ECU is located behind the glove box and Unichip engineers everything nicely to fix perfectly so you'll never know it's there. Now with my T100 the ECU is located on the passenger side kick panel and there is no room for the aftermarket Unichip equipment so mine just lays there on the ground until I figure out a way to better custom fit it. I'm going to end up needing to ditch the PNP setup and custom solder the wiring that way it will fit behind the passenger side kick panel so I can't see it!

Ok lets get back on track I purchased my 1996 Toyota T100 Ext-Cab 4WD equipped 5 Speed Manual Tranny and the 5VZ-FE 3.4L V6 Engine In January 2020. I bought the truck for a great deal because it had a bad head gasket which at 260K miles was pretty normal. Instead of ripping the engine down and replacing the head gaskets on a engine that already had been drivin alot with a bad head gasket and overheated a few times plus it already had just over 260k original miles on the clock. So I decided to Purchase a Used complete engine from an over seas Japanese company with a full warranty on it! Also all thier engines they sell have only between 40K to no more than 60K miles on them. Apparently in Japan at 40K to 60K miles all thier engines get replaced. My engine came out of a Van with 52,356 original trouble free "verified miles" on it. It came with all pictures and every single service Receipt since the van was Brand New. The engine was absolutely solid zero fluid leaks of any kind. All 6 cylinders read extremely close to the same across all cylinders of "182 PSI" reading which is what it is brand new (175-185PSI) from the factory! Before installing the new "used" engine I of course replaced the Timing Belt and Water Pump Along with All the Drive Belts Using only OEM Factory Toyota Denso Parts and Toyota Brand Drive Belts. Yes even though it only had 52k miles and the old Belts and pump were it excellent shape. I am I serious preventive maintenance nut! I also replaced the clutch and flywheel, along with the clutch slave and master cylinders. My T100 now has 282,920 miles on it. Honestly I can say since installing the "used" engine straight from Japan with 52K miles on it, engine now has 22,930 trouble free miles my truck has has HONESTY HAD ABSOLUTELY ZERO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER!!! And still does not leak or use any fluid or oil of any kind. Surprising huh.... NO its a freaking Toyota!!!

**Okay here is a complete list of my mods. that I've performed myself.**

    * Magnuson MP62 Root Style Supercharger, Lubricated with Synthetic Supercharger Oil. It puts out 11 PSI Boost with a 2.0" Pulley... I live in Northern Utah. approx 4,850ft above sea level The Supercharger kit came with New Updated Belt Tensioner, URD Red Tensioner Pulley and a New Premium Gates Supercharger Belt.

    * Snow Performance Stage 2 Part Number. SP10230 Water/Methanol Injection System. I use the #5 Nozzle. I also make myself a Custom made Blend of 50% Pure High Grade Methanol and 50%
    Distilled Water.

    * USED ECU from a 1997 T100. (Required. for proper Supercharger Function with a 1996 T100.) The 1996 T100 ECU Is Incompatible With The Use of the. Supercharger because in '96 the T100's
ECU's Technology was lacking behind 1
1 year. The '96 ECU would allow it to
    automatically advance Ignition Timing
When running a Supercharger the auto
    Advancement of Ignition Timing Is
Required In Order to Make Power!!!

    * New 1997 T100 OEM Style Toyota Brand Throttle Body with New TPS. (The 1996 TB & TPS are Different than the 1997 and like the '96 ECU The '96 TB and TPS are not compatible.)

    * Toyota Brand OEM Wheels and Tires From 2016-2022 Toyota Tacoma.

    * K&N FIPK Gen II CAI With Upgraded. Larger K&N Air Filter.

    * New High Flow CAT With All New 2.75" Exhaust Piping From The CAT Back With A High Performance Magnaflow Muffler.

    * 2 Step Colder Denso Brand IK22'S Plugs,
With Performance Red Top Ignition Coils,
    And Denso Spark Plug Wires.

    * New Denso Brand OEM MAF.
New Denso Brand OEM Pre&Post CAT o2 Sensors.

    * New 4 Core All Aluminum Radiator.
    * 170 Degree Thermostat.

    * ScanGauge II Multipurpose OBDII Computer.

    * UEGO AFR Gauge with 4.9 Bosch LSU WideBand o2 Sensor.
    AutoMeter 0-15PSI Boost Gauge.

    * Areomotive 340 Stealth In-Tank Fuel. Pump Part Number 11542.
Updated OEM Toyota Brand Fuel Pressure Regulator.
Updated OEM Toyota Brand Fuel Filter.
Updated Fuel Lines From Fuel Tank Into. Fuel Filter and Out of Fuel Filter to Fuel Rail.

    * New Upgraded Shocks Front and Rear.
New Upper and Lower Ball Joints.
    New Front Sterring Stabilizer.

**I had my Supercharged T100 on the Dyno on 3/1/2022. Here's the numbers she put down!
Now keep in mind that Toyota New from the factory done at a sea level location? Rated Tacomas and I would imagine the T100 output was rated the same?**
    (Factory Flywheel Numbers)
    "190 HP At The Flywheel"
    "217 TQ At The Flywheel"

Here are the Dyno Numbers from my '96 Supercharged T100 put down.
    "Both Flywheel and Corrected RWHP"

    -321 FWHP @ 4,850 RPMS.
    -370 FWTQ @ 3,650 RPMS.
"CORRECTED NUMBERS With 5 Speed Trans
    and Larger Wheels and Tires."
    -279 RWHP @ 4,850 RPMS.
    -322 RWTQ @ 3,650 RPMS.

    **51 Horsepower Loss & 46 Tourqe Loss**
Through Drive Train & Tires/ Wheels as we as the power loss from being dynoed at 4,850 Feet Above Sea Level
Approximately 13% Loss Through Drive. Train High Elevation.
    My AFR's @ WOT were low 10's-11.5:1
Running Water/Methanol Injection I'd really like to be at 12.5:1 AFR.

**Not too shabby if you ask me for a. Nearly 27 year old truck with 283K Miles!

    * I ONLY USE AMSOIL SYNTHETIC. LUBRICANTS In everything in my T100, Amsoil 5w30. Signature Series 100% Synthetic Engine. Oil, Amsoil EA15K51. Synthetic Nano Fiber Technology Oil Filter, Amsoil 75w90
Severe Gear Synthetic Gear Oil In Rear Differential, Front Differential, Transfer Case, 75w90 Manual Transmission Synthetic Gear Oil In Manual Tranny, Amsoil Dot 4 Synthetic Brake Fluid In Front and Rear Systems and Clutch Hydraulic System, Amsoil Premium Long Life 150,000 mile Antifreeze. Amsoil P.I. Fuel System Treatment, Amsoil Upper Cylinder Fuel Treatment, Amsoil Multipurpose Synthetic Greese NLGI #2,. Amsoil Synthetic ATF For Power Steering. Fluid. Plus all of the many other high. quality products that Amsoil offers!

***FUTURE MODS TO COME VERY SOON***
    * Get Unichip Piggyback Dialed in ASAP!
    * Install SET OF CHROME CERAMIC COATED HEADERS! (Sitting in garage ready to install)
    * Install my Stage 4 400HP+ Rated Complete Clutch Kit!
    * Maybe down the road swapping my Magnuson. Supercharger out and replace it with an Intercooled Turbocharger!!!
    * More mods I just can't think of at the moment!

Hey man would love to get an update on your build and how the unichip is working.. I have some pretty bad ping in my truck up here in Vancouver Canada.

I'm trying to figure out what the best route is to go first to attack the issue. It seems like the 7th injector and urd 6 injector kit is kinda outdated and isn't 100% foolproof method from what I'm reading so I've been looking at the aem fic 6 but is the unichip better in some way?

Did you experience any ping at all and what worked most for you? any suggestions would help a beginner like me in this territory alot. Cheers!

It's less Tacoma and more mod
It's less of a camp and more like one of those conventions that takes place at a hotel where everybody goes back to their rooms and shags each other silly.
