Being formerly in the used car business (and Frontier and Tacoma owner), I don't see how anyone can argue the Tacoma vs Frontier resale values. Tacomas hold their value so much better than the Frontier. It's really not even close. Toyota in general has better resale value than Nissan.

    And I liked my Frontier.

So speculate for us. With the issues being posted on the forum regarding the 2016 Tacoma, do you expect the 2016 Tacoma to maintain the high value past Tacoma pickups have enjoyed.

    if so, why?

Most redesigns have flaws and problems. Most good car manufacturers fix them and they don't show up the following year and everyone who didn't own one of the first ones tends to forget about it. The new ones are still flying off the lot regardless of the issues. I had a hell of a time finding what I wanted within 150-200 miles. I wanted a TRD Off Road and most lots had 1 or 2 if any. Some dealers weren't willing to even budge off of the sticker price. My dealer of choice ended up finding one and trading for it and it was the only one they could find in one of 2 colors with the few little options I wanted. So I can say the new ones are still selling even with the problems mentioned in here which tells me to that the problems might not be as widespread as this forum suggests they are. Another thing is, those who have problems with something are much more likely to post about a problem on the internet than those who are happy with a product/purchase. I've gone a little off base here as the main question is resale value but I factor all of these things into my thought that this will have little to no effect on the resale value of Tacoma's assuming Toyota fixes the issues (if they still really exist in vehicles currently being produced) before the next year model is released.

I've only driven my 2016 for a little over a thousand miles. I can say I haven't experienced any of these issues yet. I personally love my Tacoma so far. It's by far a superior truck to my Frontier (although we aren't comparing apples to apples because my Frontier was 2 wheel drive and the SV package). It's far more comfortable to ride in, the seats are more comfortable, and the overall interior is much nicer and feels of better quality. There I go again getting off track.

Though subjective , one would be hard pressed to find anyone that thinks that the Frontier is a better looking truck then the Taco (except for maybe Nissan owners).

Resale is a no brainer and really the only pure way to compare vehicles ( financially speaking ). Taco rules the land, Nissan can't even hold onto 40% of their value after 5 years where as Taco is still at >60%.
