Anyone adding any weight to the truck bed for better winter traction?

    Meh. All the dang christmas cookies added plenty of weight to my truck...

    all tore up already
    got a sweet couple hundred pound piece of radioactive lead from an xray room im cutting to fit my bed. should be 200 lbs and take up no bed space. and everything on earth gives me cancer, might as well make the taco radioactive

    I live in western NY so I have pretty similar winters to you, if not worse. I put two 60lb tube sand, one over each axle. I've noticed it does help a bit, but I still slide around. It's worth doing if you are staying on stock rubber and don't care to use 4x4 that often. I'm not shy about using 4x4. I turn it on if there is any kind of snow or ice potential. That helps more than than the sand bags do in my opinion, but it's still even better if you have them. You can go all the way like I am next winter and get snow tires, sand bags, and use 4x4.
