My 08 is in for a frame replacement. It's only been a week and I see a new ding from a rock or something. Anybody have any experiences with returning there loaner and being charged for this kind of stuff?

When my 06 got a frame replacement i had a loaner for almost 6 months. I practically lived out of the thing and it had a few scratches and a small ding in the tailgate. When i returned it, the dealer didn't even look it over, just handed me my keys and i was off. But my guess is every dealer will handle this differently, try turning it in 1 min before they close on a Friday evening, all the employees will want to get out of there as fast as possible.

I was charged but I did video the car before I drove it and beat the charge since I had proof the damage existed prior.

Some rental places are scum .

Lets see the ding. If it's truly the dealer's car, they won't do anything. If it's a rental from Enterprise or something, it's not up to the dealer. You signed a financial responsibility form when you took the car, and likely didn't opt for the damage waiver. In that case, you'll probably have to pay.

Return it right at open or close when they're busy and hope for the best.

It took me a few seconds to realize what I was looking at . Was thinking.....wheres the truck? Then it clicked that everything in the photo was a reflection off the truck.

My 16 year old called me recently saying she "brushed against the bushes" while parking and broke her rear view mirror. Drove in and saw half of my crepe myrtle on the front porch.

And yes, that was a PERFECT '94 Corolla without a single scratch/ dent prior to this incident. All of my buddies/ neighbors gave me grief for not putting my kid in a new car. 6 months later, there's a whiskey dent on every single panel and I'd already bought a new set of wheels/ tires after she "brushed a curb," unseating a tire and tacoing one wheel and bending the other 3. I'm very familiar with my DNA + being 16 years old. Father knows best. :)

Related: I always, always, always take 4 pictures from each side on of the car while the attendant is there when I rent a car. I was burned once by Budget Rental in Hawaii for damage not from me.

Take it through a mud hole before returning it, and return it while it's raining.

So TWs advice, return it after driving through a mud hole on a rainy Friday night right as they are closing.

That's when I go for emissions testing, I also try to schedule my MVA, visits 10 min before closing... Funny how fast they move during the last 15 of the day.

    I should have added gently.

"Gently drive it through a mud hole". Just enough to get it dirty.

How do you do that? I mean drive gently? Is that when you let someone else push while your holding the brake?
