Dispute the charge, if you didn't cause the damage they have no proof that you did. Businesses can't represent them self in court like you can. They have to hire a lawyer which cost a lot more than a scratch on the door.

    If they charge you
Make an affidavit stating you didn't cause the damage, get it in notorized and send it to them. Now someone with first hand knowledge of the damage has to rebut your affidavit before a judge will even allow the case in court.

I had a '19 double cab Tundra for a loaner last month. Gave it some gas to pass a car on the highway and the CEL came on. Returned it that way and never heard a peep from the dealer. :)

Wanna easy way on teaching your daughter spatial awareness? Take the car to an empty church parking lot on a Saturday morning, with a set of eight traffic cones. Set four up in a perpendicular parking space, the other four in a parallel. Don't put the cones on the lines, put them about eight inches narrower. As she's alternating parking positions back and forth, back and forth, between parallel and perpendicular, have Mom walking along the left side of the car, dad watches the right. Slap a fender every time she brushes a cone. Make her back all the way out and try again. It might take a few weekends, but she'll come home with less dings that way, and your neighbors will thank you.

I was in a brand-new Tacoma loaner for 2 1/2 months while waiting for my frame and parts to come in last summer. I mean, brand new off the sales lot - the manuals in the glove box were still in their shrink wrap, and the dealer sticker was crumpled up and stuck in there too. I was terrified that I would ding it and get stuck for it.

I was out of town visiting my brother over the 4th of July, and was worried about parking on the street - there is some rowdiness there on this normally very quiet street, because there's a good view of the town fireworks at the bottom of the street looking across the harbor. So I drove it right up along the house and parked it in the back yard for the duration. Glad I did - it was a pretty raucous party out in the street.

Returned it without blemish. The hardest part was that I couldn't let my dog in it - the guy made me promise, and I did. My dog goes everywhere with me, and he was wondering what the problem was. We were both very happy to get my ol' rig back!

I had a loaner once and when the lady checked the gas guage, she stopped looking at the rest of the Rav4, because I returned it with a lot more gas then I left with. She was happy and made a note on the inspection report.

I remember when Marcia beat Greg in a driving contest doing something similar. Forgot what was at stake.
