I wanted a 2020 long box Off-Road but they are not available in Canada so I had to settle for a Sport. I needed a long box. Liked the idea of the locker for those occasions I may need it.

    IMG_0144.jpg

So why did I buy a 4X4 at all? Daily driver, need 4X4 where I live in the winter. Also, to do more exploring again.

Also, my idea of off roading is encapsulated in @turbodb adventures. To me that is off roading. Love exploring. Wish I had the time and resources to do what he's done. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/adventuretaco-turbodbs-build-and-adventures.484602/

Used to do it but life happens.

    1992 Toyota.jpg

So yeah, I would of defiantly bought a long box off road for the locker, exploring and the looks. But to defiantly use it.

Yep, lots good goopy mud evert spring when the frost comes out of this crappy dirt road i live 2 miles off it. A few years ago a sunk my tundra up to the door sills in it. Was somewhat embarrassing to have a ram 2500 4x4 cummins yank me out then tell me to get a real truck. At least this tacoma is night, and day better in the same conditions.

I bought my OR and left Port Orford two days later for the Outer Banks … a LOT of gravel and dirt roads.

I'm in the northeast.... Take a look on auto trader. You are very wrong. Almost every used 3rd gen in the Northeast are selling close to what they were new.

Stock for stock in my experience 2wd truck's will go better/farther in snow and mud than 4wd truck's will in 2wd...

I went with a Limited as mine is used for towing a boat or atv trailer plus I got all the creature comforts that I wanted. It also sees duty on the beach to go fishing at times.

Maybe now, but it rarely was that way here in the past. I'm not going by auto trader, but what toyota dealers in my area were doing.

Idk, had 2wd pickups way back in the day, they were terrible in snow or mud. Imo, this 4wd tacoma is far better in 2wd than any past 2wd pickup ever owned. I use to try and make it up this washed out woods road to a old tower site with 2wd's in the past. Recently climbed up the same terrible woods road with my tacoma in 2wd without spinning a tire. Truck is awesome.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Uhh, did you say what you meant to say? Not sure how 2WD would be different. Both would be rear wheel drive. May save some weight up front w/2WD, but not a substantial ratio offset F/R.

A 2wd truck in 2wd is using all of its drive wheels, but a 4wd truck in 2wd is only using half of its drive wheels, duh.

If not for needing TRD trim for an MT I would have considered a 4x4 SR. Wanting an MT, it was easy to justify the OR as A-TRAC and rear locker are nice to have, but I will not be off roading enough to justify front and rear air lockers. Personally, I don't like the skewp on the Sport.

Given the remoteness of places I drive, my truck is getting a winch and Pull-Pal, even though I don't off road for fun.

Preference. I really cannot understand why anyone would want a push button start. Functionally both work. The key with physical positions is easier for me. If instead of a button the no key option involved a knob I probably would not mind it as much.

The push to start is convience for me. Key never leaves my pocket to unlock, lock or start the car.
