Anyone buy a TRD OR with no intention of off-roading?

Rear locker is cool though. You don't have to use it. While you must have it.

Yes, a 2wd does not have to push the extra weight up front (that's weight not over the drive wheels) nor overcome the rotating friction of 4wd components especially true in older trucks.

Boost, armor, lights, big tires, no savings.
Still not convinced. Driving in snow has so many variables; snow has such a wide spectrum of depth, temperature, density, surface underneath. Then there is the tires and the point of wear they are at, the driver, the day, the speed, road dynamics...
In theory, the ~100lbs of diff and axles would be more weight to move, but it also increases front end friction. Kinda like the improvements seen with skinny tires able to cut down to gain traction vs the wide for floating on deep sand. The skinny has more relative friction. My understanding is friction increased more so with pressure, not surface area. But I digress. Some physics bros could explain better.
Unless you had run back to back tests, same road, both following a slightly different line as to not compromise the condition for the next test, I am thinking this is just some old wisdom from someone's grandpa. But whatever works for you... Just my two penny's.

I didn’t go truck hunting with any thought of off-roading. My dealer had an Off Road in stock that met my criteria.

    tow rating
    AT
    4x4,
    Double cab
fit into my parkade space (short box)
Price in a range I could manage

Didn’t have a clue what the various models and trim levels were all about then, just so long as it did what I wanted.

I think we were up-sold but no regrets. All the bells and whistles work and I check them out every once in a while. Plus I like the look of the fender flares.

    Exactly.
Fitting into a garage was a top priority for me.
My garage will fit most cars but trucks are another matter.
For instance, a 2021 F-150 access cab (they call it super cab?) would leave about 1/2 inch to the rear wall of my garage with the garage door closed.
I am not even sure if I could squeeze that particular vehicle in there with the hanging ball against the windshield without continual adjustment!
My 2021 AC LB leaves about 8 inches of room to get to the beer refrigerator!

It fits in my garage, barely. Like open the garage door to go from one side of the Taco to the other.

I'd like to off road, one day. My mods will support it. Until then, I mad flex at the grocery store parking lot. Those speed bumps ain't got shit on this Taco!

Wow... pretty much has to be all other factor's being equal (like I said) except 2wd vs. 4wd

I would NOT buy an Off Road with no intention of off roading.

I bought a Pro with no intention of off roading.

The front clam shell and axles sure looked in line with the front tires when I swapped it out for new gears...
Anyways, we can agree to disagree.

Yeah I am guilty! Worst mine will see is a dirt road I am sure. But that could change. But initially I bought it cause it had the options I wanted and I didn't care for the hood scoop that added 80 hp on the sport. :)
