Im getting tired of my chrome rear bumper blah blah and want to color match it myself, I've bought the color matched battle can paint before and used it on small stuff but never anything as big as a bumper and was curious if it will match well and what process i should use for color matching.

    Thanks

I thought about doing that with a trd off road...asked the body shop I used for work & they said "bad idea". "it won't hold". So I went sport again. Not sure if they're correct but thought I'd pass it along.

Some colors are easier to match using rattle cans than others. White is difficult, so are metallics. If you take your time with the prep, sand the bumper, prime, paint and clear, it'll hold up fine, even over chrome. I'd suggest trying Duplicolor from your local auto parts store. Try it on something else to test the color (a scrap piece of metal would be best).

For some reason, body shops are hesitant to paint over anything chrome. I had a Toyota body shop tell me that painting my headlight bezels wouldn't hold up either.

I sprayed mine and it held up great. I sandblasted, then primed and painted with BC/CC Black Sand Pearl. Came out great but some asshat just rear ended me the other day so when I get the insurance $$ i might try to get relentless or other rear bumper.

The color-matched rear bumper is a huge step up over the ugly chrome one, but IMO most plate bumpers look (and function!) even better than a color-matched stock one.

Anyone know how many cans of the Duplicolor to buy to spray a bumper? I would guess four for a good covering plus 2 cans of primer and sealer! Does this sound about right? I want to spray mine to match the truck..
