Just got a TRD pro Grill and want to color match the "T-O-Y-O-T-A" letters to match my paint (Inferno). There was a vendor on her that was considering making vinyl stickers to cover the letters but after experimenting on his own truck he said the vinyl doesn't hold up well at all to bugs and general road debris.

So now I'm going to pull off the letters and have a body shop paint them for me! But want to see if anyone else has already done this?? Any advice on removing the letters?? They're put on using two-sided tape so should come off pretty easily, but here's the kicker, Toyota does NOT sell the letter separately, so if I break a single letter I need to order an entirely new $400 grill :/

Yeah I'm planning on warming them up with a heat gun, then going at the edges with some floss and just being VERY careful.

I guess I'm just looking for a little courage, if I saw someone else had already successfully done it I'd feel a lot more confident lol.

@iHoopAlot repainted the letters on his PRO grill and it looks really good. He might be able to give some advice on removing the letters. I think page 5 of his build thread shows the outcome. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...e-to-vader-and-say-hello-to-chewbacca.437830/

Great link thanks!! He didn't go into too much detail taking them off so looks like they were very straight forward, he even said "just popped them off". Already Imma give it a shot tonight! I'll post pics of outcome.

They look painted on to me... the dude that was going to make letters backed out after getting a close look at it. Take pics taking off the letters...like I said mine look already painted on and since they are grey letters and my truck is grey... meh... what color could I paint mine? Bro-yota grey I guess.... I think thats the color now... just sayin. I think it looks good stock on my truck.

Yeah if I had gray or silver I'd just leave them. Someone else blacked them out and that looks pretty good too.

Since I have orange I'm selectively color accenting other parts and think the Toyota letters would POP :)

Hey guys I know some of you have tagged me in this post asking about how I painted my letters in my TRD pro grille... So I just popped the letters off and painted them.. Be careful not to get the double sided tape that's on the grille dirty. Because you can reuse that tape that's on there and just stick the letters back on... You DONT want to heat up the letters before you take them off... My friend tried that and the enhesive became"gummy" and some of the sticky part pulled off with the letters and it made it less sticky when my friend tried to put the letters back on.. So just use alittle bit of force.. They will come off

Here's a couple pics of my grille with the blacked out letters... For those who haven't seen it yet.. I actually popped them off again and had them color match Quicksand Tan to match the truck... I'm picking the letters up tomorrow from the paint shop... I'll post some pics after I put them on the grille

I painted mine. I removed the letters, painted them red, and then added matte black decals over that. It turned out really nice and the decals have lasted for at least 3 months now.

I recently painted my the TOYOTA letters on my TRD pro grille black... But I decided to take them off again and repaint them QS tan to match the truck.. I liked the letters black but I kind of wanted the letters to stand out alittle more.. So Here's how it turned out..
