Controversial opinion: even mechanics are subject to biases, myths, superstition, and nostalgia.

Oh totally. Some speak from years of experience. Buddy of mine is senior tech, he doesn’t have anything nice to say about Toyotas. Doesn’t think they are all what they are cracked up to be. He also has been spinning wrenches for the last 45 years on gassers and diesels. He kinda laughs that I spent the same on my Tacoma that he did on his F350, thinks it was a total waste.

My other buddy owns a repair shop and is a Toyota nutter, not happy about the direction Toyota is going.

But that is just two guys, experience, knowledge, and opinions will vary.

How many Toyotas have been built with turbos that were lemons, I can't think of any. My other issue is I have never had a car past 100,000 miles so with oil changes, it should last that long.

The 3.0 was just a non-turbo V6. The 22RTE (maybe you are thinking of) from 86-87 was turbo charged and had one...Not a lot of info on it as it was rare, but I had no issues and was at the age where I ran it hard.

Definitely just reading too fast and missed the “with turbos”. Oops
