    I have had a 80 CJ-5, 87, & 95. They are what they are; fun semi-functional & high maintenance. NOT a primary vehicle.

I needed a truck for rental houses.

Cross-shopped a Wrangler, Outback, and Tacoma. Wife and I were looking for a vehicle we could take on the beach and would be my daily driver.

    Outback was way too boring.

Wrangler had tons of character, but I was worried about reliability, plus the prices are outrageous. We got our TRD Off Road for the price of a base Wrangler Sport. My son's Tacoma is ten years old and has been bullet proof.

The biggest surprise of the entire exercise was my wife, after raving about how "cute" the Wrangler was, agreed that the Tacoma was the best choice. She was amazed at the difference in the driving dynamics of my son's 2008 SR5 Pre-Runner (only 52K miles) and the new Tacoma.

Most of the wranglers I see now days are driven by b-----s.

    Just my observation.

My wife got a 15 Wrangler JKU and I really wanted her to pick that so I could drive it.... I like the idea of it but the reliability is crap. check engine light on every other month since 350 miles new. Always a different excuse from the stealership/ and I changed to another one.... same nonsense. It leaks somewhere new every time they "fix" the leaks. It's a hard top :( which was supposed to be better. Off road it is unstoppable the few times we took it off pavement and my wife loves the tank like feel of it.... but I leave it in the garage and drive my Taco even if the Jeep is available....

I have a 1977 jeep but it is beyond unreliable. It was my first vehicle and left me stranded dozens of times so I bought the taco. Still have the Jeep but it's currently not running.

Owned a jeep and sold it to help with the down payment on the Tacoma. The jeep just wasn't functional, don't get me wrong it is a blast to drive, but to haul anything I had to always have a little trailer. We have only owned the Tacoma for 3 months and it has been so much more useful than the Jeep. It is also still pretty fun to drive. I will admit that it isn't as much fun as the jeep with the top off, but the other benefits of the Tacoma more than make up for that.

Had three jeeps; two wranglers and a GC eco diesel. The Carl of Doody wrangler was the best of the three. I had no real mechanical issues with it at all and may have kept it if i could have continued to tolerate the 13mpg i was averaging with it (pre-pentastar). All three shit the bed on trade-in value though. I mean terribly horribly shit the bed. Moral: don’t buy FCA if you like value

I had one. Small, weak, and it really does stand for Just Empty Evey Pocket. They are very good at what they are designed for but not much else. I wanted a smaller truck for going offroad than I had, Ram 1500 isn't a practical trail rig on the east coast. Still has a decent towing capacity and way more cargo room.

My neighbor has a JL Rubicon. It's gorgeous inside and out and actually drives very nice onroad for a vehicle that comes stock with 33s. If you're into multiday adventures you better not have kids, it's small. And damn, it's expensive. If I was cross shopping a Wrangler and Toyota it would be the 4runner.

Owned a yj, the 4.0 inline six is bulletproof and my flowmaster made it sound throaty like a v8 something a v6 cant produce.

That being said I highly considered a jku so glad i didn't, might get flamed but it's pretty much a chick car now imo
