What's up guys. Been longtime reader. Im thinking of getting a new tacoMa. My last vehicles have been 4runners,land cruisers and fjs. My current ride is 12 fj with 150k. Really want to like the tacoma but after reading these threads here and in ridgline forums, it seems the gen 2 ridglines have less horror stories.
I don't tow, but I like the looks of tacoma a lot more. Anyone consider the ridgeline before buying tacoma

No. There's a reason they stopped making the Ranchero and El Camino.

If you want a car buy a ridgeline. If you want a truck buy a tacoma.

My thought process with the Ridgeline was, "Well, it does look like it can do most of the truck stuff I need it to do, and it has some cool car like features that could come in handy. OK, let's start looking these things, maybe this is a cool truck alternative."

    **Looks up Ridgeline pricing/trim levels**

    ... WTF?

    **Back to looking at Tacos/Colorados**

If the top level Ridgeline was about $13k less it might get me to look at it over a real truck, but at their current pricing I just don't see the point.

Don't judge the Tacoma off this forum. Don't buy a Ridgeline. That's my advice.

I don't see myself ever getting a ridgeline but I think it's a great vehicle perfect for most who are DIYer's that will never tow I think the thing is perfect for people who need a bed but don't want a truck because let's be honest it does everything a Tacoma does besides go off road or tow. I still think it's a great vehicle for camping and IKEA/Home depot runs. But I still wouldn't get one personally ahahha

The ridgeline is perfect for hauling protester signs and banners for the pride parade. Also good for your life partners hauling of cat food for your 12 cats.

A friend at work was considering the new Colorado. I don't know much about their reputation but the ZR2 looks flashy--

All wheel drive better than turn it on yourself 4wd in the snow your will encounter in Chicago. Good luck finding a dirt road. Honda has a better ride, better transmission feel, and is butt ugly compared to a Tacoma.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I would not even entertain the thought of a ridgeline. They are not trucks. As stated above, they are literally minivans with the back cut off.

Tacoma peoples are different people than Ridgeline people
