Its not a second gen manifold! That manifold is from our first gens 01'-04'. Yes it is pretty straight forward. The only time I found myself cussing was trying to line up and bolt the egr tube to the manifold. But I left all the studs in place when i installed, so everything had to line up perfectly before it went on there. if a guy removed all the studs this would be a non issue. Had to take a bolt out from the driver side thst holds the egr tube in place then the tube could be flexed enough that I could get everything lined up.

The kit i bought was actually from yotatech. I believe it was from user name "death cougar" it came with all the goodies hardware and gaskets!

P.S. I got to thinking back to the install and I remember the 3 nuts that secured the header to the exhaust tube were really tight to get to, not much room. I remember having to get several ratchet extensions, a lot of them! Going from the underside lying on the ground is how I did it, thus needing the long extensions. The nuts are on that side too, so not much choice there anyhow.

no worries, you'll be on this site for hours and read up :)

1st gen is 95.5-04 (same body style, minimal engine changes)

    2nd gen is the 05+

    3rd gen is a myth :D

Actually it was more of a California emissions header,,but they ended up all over the range of trucks and 4runners all over the US basically.

A exhaust shop for the good metric hardware if needed during the process. Much easier than digging thru bins at the hardware store.

E-torx sockets and wrenches in 8 and 10mm for the star end of the studs,,if needed. Bought the Harbor Freight kits which has a good selection and they fight pretty tight.
