This has happened to me twice so far. Usually on my way to work I check my current mpg at least once. On my drive today I noticed it had reset randomly between the day before and this morning... I was getting 15.6 yesterday and it had dropped to 3 mpg and kept going up like I had just filled up on gas. Anyone else having this issue? I have a 2018 TRD OR Tacoma with 5400 miles.

Mine has when I’ve been off road going up or down very steep terrain. I figured it’s the fuel in the tank tripping the hi level sensor, causing the dash data to reset because it thinks the tank is full.

Just saw a recall for my truck for the PCS sensor, maybe they are related?

Thats the front radar sensor. All they do is put some seal around it to prevent moisture. Nothing related to fuel.

Yes mine has reset randomly about a dozen times. I bought my TRD Off-Road in Feb of 2020 and have roughly 13,700 miles right now. Most of the random resets have been while I was off-roading. However, I have seen it reset randomly while driving down a nice level, smooth, flat, paved road in the city more than once. I have mentioned it to my dealership and they want to help me but it's super hard since I can't figure out a sure fire way to make it reset when it shouldn't. Do you still have this issue? Have you been able to figure out a pattern at all?

Sorry to bring up an old thread but did anyone ever find a cause or solution to this?

My 2016 has done this maybe 2-3 dozen times since I got it in 2020. Sometimes it happens once or twice a week. Sometimes it won't happen for months. It's a minor annoyance but as I am trying to analyze my gas mileage at the moment it is kind of PITA when it happens and its happened twice this week.

Run the numbers manually. Reset either Trip A or B at next fuel up, at following fuel up calculate tank MPG. Reset the trip again, rinse and repeat.

My 2020 Off Road has done this on several occasions. I can’t figure out what causes it. I’ve had it happen off-roading and on perfectly flat city roads. Dealership wants to help but since we can’t reproduce it manually they can’t help.
