How hard/how much effort is it supposed take to remove the inserts from the OEM wiper frames? I have new ones (inserts) and have watched the videos that are around, but it seems like it takes way too much force remove them or even get them started. I'm working from the correct end to remove the old insert. Neither wiper insert wants to budge and it feels like something is going to get bent if I try forcing them any further. Tnx

Pinch the wee clip embedded into the rubber (at one end).

If they're oem as TartanEagle said there's sort of a metal nib/clip that you have to compress to get past the indents on the holder. Have a close look. Needs finesse not force.

I purchased the truck used, and recognizing the blades on it weren't OEM, I purchased the Toyota blade assemblies from the dealer soon after and with a spare set of inserts. I'll give it another try. Thanks!

Inserts here as well. I also use RainX on the windshield, clean the blades with alcohol, then while they are still standing up wipe them with 3m protectorent. Once dry wipe with paper towel to get any excess off and good for another year.

To be efficient really I think you need two sets of OEM blades and inserts. That way you can always have a fresh set ready to go. Changing the inserts isn’t hard- but it can be messed up easily. Then you would have a truck you can’t drive because you do not have a wiper on it. Seems like unnecessary stress.

I use them in the winter and I think they are pretty good. With the design they have I don't think they ice up as easily. I always liked either the Bosch OEM's or the Icon's too, but last time I checked they were approaching $30 each.

With the entire month of July 110-118 degrees mine melted to the glass - so I replaced with Bosch.

Subaru Hybrid wiper blades last much longer than Toyota or aftermarket blades. I used them on my 09 Tacoma and plan to use them on my 2023 when needed. They last years on a car that is not garaged. Reasonably priced.

I like the OEM inserts and blades. Works well even with heavier snow build up.

I live in the desert so the inserts get replaced every 2 years when they start to dry out.

I clean them each fuel up and wipe them with silicone spray about once a month.

IPA on rubber doesn’t seem like the best idea. I’ve always just used dish soap on a rag when I’m washing the car to clean the blades. Never had an issue.

I have used alcohol prep pads on wiper blades before if they get grease or something on them. Works really well in a pinch on the road but probably will shorten the life.

Just changed the inserts on my 2019 Camry for good measure as it’s running up on 5 years. Honestly I could have left them longer as they were still holding up to FL monsoons just fine. I wouldn’t see any need to seek alternatives personally.
