I have 1600 miles on my 2017 TRDOR. I hate driving it. I will take it to the dealership again tomorrow to see what they can do to get it shifting and steering better. This truck isn’t good! This is my 6th Toyota 4x4 and could be my last.

Just have to stay with 2nd gen until they can sort all the bugs out in the 3rd and put a 4.0 back in it. Just saying.

Welcome to TW! Did you take it for a thorough test drive before purchase?

I think the best option would be to purchase the OV Tune if you're that unhappy with it. A cheaper route would be to purchase the Sprint Booster and the Shift Sense Pro. Either the OV Tune or a combination of the other two will solve your shifting issues.

What "steering" issues are you having?? Haven't heard of anyone else with steering problems.

Cheapest route is a test drive....

Anyways, I have a little bit of an issue with the steering too. It's loose as hell imo and I find the truck going all over the place/taking super wide turns unless I am really on it. It needs to be tightened up quite a bit.

Truck felt fine in my test drive. Test drives are not long enough to get a true feel for any vehicle. Might wanna get that steering looked at, mine is on point! This is funny because I literally just told my wife last night that her 2015 4Runner steering sucks compared to mine haha.

sounds like I'll have to take a closer look at it then, I felt like the one I test drove had tighter steering as I was impressed with its turning radius vs my ford.

Sure they are. I've never had a test drive shorter than 30 minutes. I take the vehicle all over the place to get a feel for it.

Not always the case, manual transmissions fail too. I had a 95 YJ that the 5th gear went out with less than 80,000 on it. Traded it several days later for a new 2003 Tacoma, DC, 4WD, OR.

This is literally same book second chapter. This forum had the exact same response when the 2nd gen came out. Talking about how it was crap, how Toyota rushed it out, how everyone how owned one was going to lose everything because it's resale value was based on who Toyota was not who they are, etc...

Perfectly happy with mine and I've also owned a Toyota truck or two in the past.
