I searched and found most everyone that pipes in just does a drain and fill. I am a little anal about that and want all new fluid in there as I don't use Toyota brand and know there is better. I have done the full exchange a couple times on my 4runner and my now ex's Camry. Only had my Taco about 2 months and it is getting close to 60k (bought used) and wonder if many others do the full exchange and can tell me which line comes from the tranny to the external cooler and which one goes back? I'm pretty sure I know which one, but thought the same on the Camry based on forum posts and I ended up with about 8 ozs on the garage floor, Ughh!

A forum is 90% opinions anyway so non helpful ones don't bother me like some.
Define early? I have no idea how the truck was used before me. Clean fluid is a good thing and bet you change engine oil sooner than Toyota recommends or at least I hope so. I also want better fluid than Toyota brand.

True, better safe than sorry. I would change all fluids with the purchase of a used vehicle in a private party sale.

Since most aren't using their trucks for towing heavy loads or extensive idling the trans usually wont need changed for like 120k+ miles.

As far as oil change frequency, no I follow Toyota's maintenance schedule, we have enough reported Blackstone oil tests to confirm you dont need to do it sooner.
