Watching the 4th gen youtube videos and I'm becoming more and more comfortable with just keeping my current ride. Forget the TFL front diff implosion as that might just be a one off but it does seem the QC was a little lacking. Rattling gloveboxes and a cheap feel to the interior seem to be the biggest complaint. That and the turbo is enough to keep me away for now. I also think it looks more like a Colorado than a Tacoma. I love the looks of my 2022 TRD Off Road way more than the 4th gen. Maybe in 4 or 5 years I'll be a buyer.

Lol. No I didn't mis the recall. I got a message on the app that I'm one of the recalled trucks. No big deal to me just another black eye for Toyota.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
3rd gen Tacoma is gonna be the second gen 4runner of the used market me thinks.

You need to read the entire 3rd gen section. People left rear axles behind, grenaded the rear diff just getting of parking lot.. don't judge

Me either but I was seriously considering the 2024. I sometimes fall victim to the new and shiny thing.

For the price of 4G you can get a 1/2 ton new or slightly used for the same. That’s where my mind goes though.

The biggest draw of the 3rd gen right now is the price. Toyota will figure out QC on the 4th gen, what was a $40k 3rd gen is the new equivalent $50k 4th gen. Buy whatever you feel like, as long as it's not the 3.slow pre Tacoma pick-up, you're doing fine.

the only part i'm jealous of with the 4th gen is the frame change that uses a coil spring rear axle. would make my planned air bag conversion nearly painless. now, i've got to basically re-engineer the entire rear of the truck to make it do my bidding.

but there's absolutely nothing else about the 4th gen, from interior setup, to exterior styling, that i want even for free.

i got into a 3rd gen specifically because it's the newest truck that does what i want in the style i want. if this truck makes a sudden leave, the only thing i'd really change is might be the color, based on used-truck availability.

I still love my 2016. It looks and drives like the day I drove it off the lot. Always garaged and only has 56,000 miles on it in over 8 years is why. I like the 4th Gen too. Since I can’t get a 4th Gen Access Cab V6 then Toyota will have to offer me a huge discount for me to settle and trade in. Either way I’m happy to keep my 2016 or get a huge discount on a 4th Gen.

Im feeling better about it, but dont care either really, honestly anything since COVID is sh*t, houses, cars, appliances, etc. Ever see what 2.5 gen Tundras are going for now after all the issues or percieved issues with the new gen? Hoping Tacomas are similar.

They almost had to pry my 1st Gen from my cold dead hands, only bought my 3rd Gen because got tired of fixing the 1st. Had that for so long that I skipped right over the 2nd as I tend to run my vehicles into the ground, rebuild them, then run them into the ground again. By the time I wear my 3rd Gen out, the 5th Gen will be here and the internal combustion engines will most likely be obsolete…

Sure the 4th Gen will fine, going to have some growing pains out of the gate, like almost all the generations had when they roll off the line the first couple years.

That said, for how long manufactures have been making autos, you would think they could build a perfect vehicle with no flaws.

Cheap interior is pretty much the description of a Tacoma, regardless of generation.

I've dumped too much into my 2017 to part with it. Still shopping for another daily, but I'm keeping this one till the wheels fall off.

The 4th gen is just as much as a flop as the new tundra imo.

You sound like a 2nd gen'er. 2016 models had it hard. 2nd half of 2017 is ze best.
Trust the process. The hybrid one will be tits.
