My wife’s Aunt bought one for their country house, next time I’m over there I’ll drive it and take some pictures.

I got my 2020 made in Texas Tacoma right before covid hit and the world ended. I hope it was the sweet spot for reliability. I'm still thinking about a 4runner, but as far as a new Tacoma goes, I'll pass on it.

Hate to break this news, but if other compact trucks are anything to go on, the Stout will be:

    • Unibody
    • Crippled with a hilariously small bed
    • Ugly
    • Last but not least it will still have all the over complicated electronics

maybe if they were making a small body on frame truck with a usable bed and a reliable naturally aspirated engine… there would be cause for excitement

Yep, we can only dream. That HiLux Champ is what Toyota trucks used to be, basic and no nonsense. Too bad we don’t get a stripped down version of the Tacoma.

    Sweet, that would be awesome.

I wanted a new version of my 1991 Truck (hilux type).
They sell these all around the world, with manual transmission, but not here in the US.
Here, we seem to only want "lifestyle trucks", so we get the big ol' Tacoma instead.

I'd druther the Hilux size myself.

I doubt Toyota will ever bring the diesel to the US. The US consumer has been brainwashed to hate anything diesel and the demand is down, even in full sized trucks. We would much rather burn twice the amount of gasoline.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
You can thank California and the EPA for that. The intro of DEF requirements and increased restrictions and punishments for violations killed the market. If I could afford to delete the DEF from the VW I would do it in a heartbeat. But that's not cheap and the ROI isn't worth it for the time I plan to own the car.

Details on the 2025 Stout are yet to be fully revealed, but it's speculated to follow Toyota's TNGA architecture, specifically the GA-K platform underpinning the Toyota Camry and RAV4. Another possibility is that Toyota might employ the GA-C platform used for smaller cars and crossovers, like the Toyota Corolla Cross, to keep the costs low. Whichever path they choose, we know Toyota is committed to a compact pickup truck that's above the 2024 Tacoma in their lineup.

There was nothing ever to feel bad about unless you listened to those crusty 2nd gen'ers. Now I see some 3rd gen'ers do it to the 4th gen'ers.:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I didn't really feel bad about my current truck but on occasion I do want the shiny newest thing. I wouldn't go on the gen 4 forum and bash. I'm sure at some point in 2027 I probably buy one.

Funny how that works, held out buying a new truck for long time. Drove my 1st Gen for 20 years, ran it up to 434K miles, pretty much ignored the latest and greatest. Finally broke down and bought a new truck, now I can’t stop looking at other new trucks…

Because I got a better deal from them letting them finance it, they get kick backs from financing, and it didn't cost me anything. I signed the papers walked out of the showroom and drove my truck home, not a dime out of pocket at that point.

Then had my niece drive me back to get my car when she got off of work that day.

Funny thing about the financing, the sales manager originally had me financed through Capital 1, the when I got into the finance office, talking to the guy I reiterated to him I was paying it off in 3 weeks after the first of the year, he went out to the sales manager, his uncle, and told him he was switching it to Toyota. Apparently the C1 financing had more of a charge back when there are early pay off's of the loans.

Before I bought my taco I had an BMW X5 diesel that was deleted and tuned. Tons of power and 30+mpg highway. Sometimes I kick myself for selling it for a gas guzzling taco, but there was zero off road market for it and I want to get further back in the sticks. Plus I was hearing more and more stories of guys getting stopped and fined all over the place for deleting emissions, and even some close to home so... it was time.

    100%,
    And that’s why I’m a 3rd gen Tacoma owner and a 5.9 Cummins owner.
