Interiors of the competition are nicer than Toyota imo.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
If you have all these issues, then sell it or burn it and collect the insurance.

My MT 18 Sport has 127k miles on and nothing more than routine maintenance. With the mods it's carrying more weight and still runs as I'd expect it to. And no extended warranty...

have you been following any of the electrification/hybrid news lately? toyota's basically lol-ing at the entire industry for promising to go full electric while pushing hybridization and outselling everyone. while every company that promised full-electric fleets are massively scaling back expectations, and in some cases extending timelines to continue selling internal combustion.

it's really a disaster right now, with politics and shareholders calling for 'THE FUTURE' in electrification, but market forces demanding the exact opposite.

personally, it's become one of the biggest signs of the disconnect between the shareholders/politicians desires and how far distanced they are from the reality that the rest of us have no choice but to live in.

I can say this……I’m satisfied with my 23 Tacoma. However, I would pay a premium to have one that was 100% made in Japan

Yep. My truck is lifted, on 33s and carries 330-550# of constant weight. I off-road and tow as well.

My battery lasted 6 years but was still working, just replaced it before the cold came. Still on original needle bearing too.

    Absolutely love my taco.

Lifted, 32" KO2's, heavy winch bumper, will be replacing an RTT and maybe a steel rear bumper. I did do the needle bearing and had to replace the aftermarket upper ball joints because a state inspector said they were bad (I called BS, but it doesn't matter here.) I may have to do a tie rod because the adjustment nut is currently frozen. Addressing that Tuesday.

the thing I still don't feel great about my '22 OR is that I had to drive it 2,200 miles to get it home from the dealership on the other side of the country. when I was looking there were 6 month long waiting lists and required deposits with local Toyo dealerships in AZ and of course what shows up shows up when it's your turn. if you don't like it and say no, you wait for who knows how long for another to show up.

I don't have any desire to get a 4th gen but if even if I did, how long will the waiting list be in AZ this time? 6 mos? a year?

Not bad! These trucks are slowly proving to be as reliable as previous gens. I see them on every corner up here and duders use their trucks as trucks.

Reading TW you would think 3G is the biggest POS in the world haha!

I’m running mine into the ground so hopefully another 25 years or so. I’ve only got 60k miles.:)

I love the interior of my Gen3. One of the reasons I purchased it.

Same, same, especially now since I got rid of all the chrome!
Having had a lot of Jeeps over my lifetime, I can confidently say that my 3rd gem Tacoma rocks on many levels, not the least of which is longevity.

I think you ran into some of the post Covid logistics and supply issues. A lot of the ports were still backed up for unloading and there were container shortages as a result. That was a nation wide thing across a lot of industries.

Never buy the first model year of anything, especially right after they first come out. Some people just want to be first but there are ALWAYS unforseen issues. They'll fix them but not worth buying right now.

    never gonna happen.

heck, even my japan-made brz isn't 100% japan made. it's really just 'assembled in japan'. too many pieces with too many countries that specialize in those pieces that can make it cheaper.

We are shifting toward a buyer’s market. I am taking a wait and see approach to see if the Tacoma inventory follows the Tundra inventory. I saw a video with rows and rows of Tacomas sitting at a port lot on another forum.

If you own a Gen3, and really like your truck (and I do), then you’re probably also pragmatic. Specifically, Gen3 pushed back a ton of early criticism both fair & unfair, and has proven itself worthy of our admiration. However, ownership requires appreciating it’s many strengths, despite some generally forgivable faults.

Which means a typical Gen3 owner can at least offer some patience regarding the inevitable problems that Gen4 will have (or has already?), especially considering all of its improvements.

But…as soon as you want to cut the new truck some slack, the crazy MSRP’s & shameful de-contenting almost force you to dislike it until it gets discounted.

    I think so too.

Classic look and simple. Well except for the stupid chrome trim.

It would have to have the Hilux diesel engine.
