You want the dealer to take care of it, so they take your truck off the recall list. Not worth having issues when you go to sell or get rid of the truck and it has a Bunch of open recalls.

I used to work in the Roller Coaster industry. Gr8.8 may be viewed as "lesser" quality, but gr10 can be too "hard/brittle" for many applications and may cause more problems than it solves. I'm sure it's fine either way in this case, but just thought I'd drop that little tidbit.

    Thanks,

I guess that depends on what the fix is. For now, Im going to replace the nuts with locking versions and torque them properly for an M10 x 1.25 fastener. When we get the recall letter and it has some significant replacement for the repair, I will take it there. If it just turns out to be "inspection and torque nuts" then no, probably won't bother

Mainly I was just referring to the proper torque, based on the fastener composition and thread pitch. 8.8 will be slightly less than 10.9, is slightly less than 12.9. None of which are 27 ft-lbs like Toyota has them currently

Agreed. I've spent way too much time with hardware in that industry and don't want in my daily life!

Deez Nuts are the only possible nuts that could create the issue.

Checked my VIN for my newly purchased 23 TRD Sport and indeed it is subject to the recall. Checked the nuts today and found them to be tight and secure. Because of the tight spacing, I was only able to get my torque wrench effectively on 2 nuts per side but they were adequately torqued (i.e. they didn't turn at 30 ft-lb. I checked the rest with a ratchet wrench - couldn't turn them tighter with reasonable effort so I reckon I'm good until Toyota issues more guidance.

Forum newbie here. I was just informed of this recall that a friend saw on the news but I haven't received any official notification yet. I checked the Toyota recall site and my VIN on my 2022 SR5 says it's part of the recall. I suppose I could check them myself, I worked as a Cadillac and Rolls Royce mechanic for about 5 years in the 80's before moving out of the dealership circuit to become a Locomotive and train car mechanic and air brake specialist. I still worked on my own vehicles and kept up with the technology. I may be behind on the most recent computer developments but that's what these forums are for.

I'm retired and now only have the one vehicle having sold my 2005 GMC Sierra and 2009 Grand Marquis figuring this Toyota should last me until they tell me I'm no longer fit to drive. I'll take a look and inspect it myself and then take it to the dealer and have them get it on paper they inspected and did whatever the recall calls for. One thing I learned working at a dealer is you need to get them to fill out the paperwork the recall was done by an authorized dealer for legal purposes. If you have an accident after ignoring a recall especially if they send out two or three notices your insurance company is going to find out and may deny your claim if there is the slightest chance the recall part or procedure was involved.

I guess 4G really is the better truck, not a single recall on those...

Except for the video where they were testing one along with a Chevy and the 4WD system failed. No power to front axle and stuck in LO

Well, my 3/8" torque wrench would not go high enough so I had to use my 1/2" one. It was a bit of a challenge with limited space and I was not able to use it on 2 out of 4 nuts on each side. None of the nuts checked with torque or ratchet would budge so I'm assuming I'm good until toyota issues more guidance.

Yup, I have a new left over 2023 double cab TRD Off Road I picked up a couple weeks ago. I got the recall info by logging in to a vin # check on line and it is also is noted on my Toyota app I just signed on to.

Just checked my rear axle and I see welding slag all on the ends of both axle tubes but the 4 nuts on each side are snug . Looks like no welding slag near or under the nuts. I’m good to go. Will have to have the dealer check it out but I see no issues with mine

Haven’t seen any MY 22 that were built in 21 that have the recall.
