Thank you. I have the TRD Off Road and when they went over things at the dealer with me he pointed at the off road buttons and told me to never touch them. Then why did I get this truck? Lol My guess he didn’t know how to explain or use them himself

I’m just concerned if they will honor the recall even with aftermarket lift suspension and wheel.

    It’s a recall, not a warranty. They’ll fix it.

There are fully prepped and caged race cars that got new airbags in the Takata recall just to get the “open recall” tag off the Carfax.

Your lift will not affect anything. This recall has nothing to do with springs or suspension travel. You’re ok

Ok, So, I’m a lube tech at Toyota, asked my boss (shop foreman) and he said if the recall was really bad, the recall notice would say something along the lines of “do not drive” and Toyota would put you in a free rental car until your vehicle was fixed, so I drove my Tacoma today instead of the F150. Good thing too, my F150 is so old it won’t run right on modern pump gas, and I have to run high test with no ethanol in it, that was getting expensive lol.

I'd sure like to know precisely which nuts they're talking about. Using the words from the recall "axle retaining nut", I see this parts diagram from TRD Shop: Seems to indicate part #4. I'd like to just inspect all of this myself. Maybe the first person going in for the recall can get better info and post it.

The diagram you pulled up is from the wrong end of the truck.

The recall pertains to the rear axle. The axle retainer plate is located outboard of the axle bearing. This plate along with a seal is installed on the outboard end of the axle housing and is held on with four studs and four nuts.

The four nuts are the hardware in question in this recall. Poor picture but two are circled below. if you read the thread, you’ll find at least one or two more pictures.

Removed nuts, one at a time. No welding spatter present. Reinstalled, retorqued.

I took a look under my 2023 Offroad 4x4 out of curiosity and saw some weld spatter around the area in question. Haven't read the entire thread and maybe someone already mentioned it but this is probably what the recall is about.

Just a few accessories, mud flaps, bed cover , racks, seat covers, ….
My 23 sr5 is on the new recall list. I took a look under the truck , all look normal , no weld derbies, or loose nuts , nothing unusual , but I am not a mechanic, going to long trip , wanna b on safe side , so I called the dealer I bought the truck from, they put me on for next week, oil change needed too.

here is the update : got a call back from dealer saying; they have no fix to this cause for now , cancel and wait for the future notice.

    Here is what I found:
All known owners of the subject vehicles will be notified to return their vehicles to a Toyota dealer. For all involved vehicles, dealers will inspect the rear axle assembly and retighten the axle retaining nuts. If weld spatter is found, it will be removed. Axle components which are damaged may be repaired or replaced based on inspection criteria, if necessary. As the owner notification letters will be mailed out well within the active period of the Toyota New Vehicle Limited Warranty (“Warranty”), all involved vehicle owners for this recall would have been provided a repair at no cost under the warranty.

Yep, and instead of that they found out that my dad's 2023 Off Road has faulty differential , needs to be replaced. Might as well dump the truck.

Anyone know exactly which months/years this covers? Mine was built in Jan '22 but there's nothing showing in my app.

What's wrong with it? It's under warranty if you haven't exceeded the mile cap.

True that. 5 gallons of Sunoco SS100 is well over $100 :bananadead: (On a side note, the Husqvarna Autotunes burn it just fine with a little pep in the exhaust note. I like the fact that ethanol contains O’s for combustion)
