I took my truck in yesterday Tuesday. They replaced three nuts on the passenger side of the axle. They did find minor amounts of welding slag on the mating surface. The mechanic said it likely wouldn't have been a problem but they cleaned it up, replaced the nuts and torque them down.

I'm at the dealer now. They did the inspection and i was told they have to keep mine until the parts arrive and are giving me a loaner since its a safety thing.

Not what i was looking forward to, but it is what it is.

Getting a highlander as the loaner.

Did dealer clarify what parts they have to order, that is so critical, cannot drive your Tacoma? At least dealer letting you use loaner. I’m taking my Tacoma back to dealer today, parts came in.;)

Just got the recall letter yesterday. Found these TSBs on NHSTA recall website listing. It looks like the torque has increased to 41 ft·lb. I wonder if the chiseling and filing could make the axle flange contact area out of square? Ford recently uncovered a problem with the majority of their recalls being done by untrained techs and started to deny payment unless the tech performing the repair had completed recent training.

They let me come in for "an inspection" without parts being on hand and probably saw i needed the repairs.

I wish they ordered the parts then scheduled me to come in.

The recall on my 2023 Tacoma is finished. Dealer replaced nut for ends of rear axle. But recall notice is still in my Toyota app. I forgot about asking service advisor about it. Suppose to clear out after?

Got mine in today and it all checked out fine with no welding debris problems, about two hours at the dealership.

You can crawl underneath your Tacoma, and see for yourself the side ends of rear axle. No need touch anything.

I’ve done that but I’m still going to take advantage of a recall and make sure it’s good.

Apparently, everybody did that, and went to dealer for recall. Go from there.

Just got home from my weld splatter inspection. Took about 45 minutes total and they found the bolts all well seated with no weld slag underneath.

I saw they use a powered impact wrench to get it snug followed by a torque wrench to finish the job. I didn't ask specifically what torque setting the wrench was set to.

I stopped at my local dealer today. They said that everything was fine.Torqued the nuts to 41ft lbs. They said that that is all that has been needed on the trucks that they have seen.
