Anyone else get the axle shaft separation recall?

Build date was also Feb 2022

 

I hope they will re-torque mine even if they don’t find any weld splatter just for safe measure.

 

They will re-torque to 41 ft. lbs. the service bulletin increased torque from 33 to 41.

Still waiting. Probably complicated by change in ownership & reregistration. Or not.

 

I just got my letter - much later than others. I don't think you have to wait - just give your dealer a call and they'll verify the recall with VIN.

I made an appointment for this Thursday. They recommend that I drop the truck off and come back later. Not sure what that means.

I had inspected myself when the recall came out and didn't see much weld spatter.

 

If you simply schedule and drop, do they give you a loaner before inspection?

 

I didn’t get a loaner from the dealership I took it to. They just have a free shuttle that can go up to a 10 miles radius from the dealership.

 

Do the wheels need to be removed to perform the inspection? I avoid stealerships at all costs with their fresh "techs" who live to crank on impact drivers 2x the recommended torque.

 

No, wheels do not need to be removed they will put it on a lift and inspect the eight nuts in question.

Just found it amusing.

 

I received the recall letter Monday. I have a 2023 SR5 4X4. I need to setup an appointment and it could take up to one hour to complete.

 

Yeah, that popped up on my screen yesterday also. I get another reminder everytime I put the truck in park.

 

Okay thats annoying as hell

 

Picked up the truck from the dealer this morning. Paperwork just has generic descriptions of weld splatter.

I had to wait 4 days so they must have replaced the nuts and cleaned up the surface.

I'm just glad to have it back. I didn't like the Highlander.

Hoping its the last recall.

Truck was made 06/23 and currently has 5900 miles.

 

The notification popped up on my screen today. Had the truck in Monday and it checked out fine. The recall has dropped off the Toyota App so I was surprised the notification showed on my truck today.

 

Does anyone know how to get that dang pop up notification off the screen? I’m sure Toyota will have to clear it I guess they figure to annoy the heck out of us till we bring it in for the recall.
