I had mine checked today. He pulled all the parts, inspected them and the matching surface for damage, reinstalled the parts one at a time and torqued them. After all were installed, he rechecked the torque once again.

June 2022 build date, for reference.

Mine was done yesterday, took about an hour. I asked them to look at the water pump pulley run out (looked excessive). When I asked about the pulley, she said the mechanic said it was o.k. Nothing on the ticket about it and I don't think he even looked at it, so I hopefully am done with the dealer and will fix it myself.

    2023 TRD PRO 6MT. Recalled.

Found a PDF with instructions for North American dealerships, and it clearly instructs dealers to provide a loaner or a $60/day rental if the customer doesn't feel comfortable driving during the "remedy preparation period" aka waiting for your appointment. Of course, trying to explain this to the brainless appointment-making/phone-answering monkeys didn't prove fruitful at 4 different locations. Reached out to Toyota Brand Engagement and after about an hour on hold the lady confirmed that a safety recall does allow for an immediate loaner/rental until the remedy is applied. I'm still on hold, but now she's calling the dealership to explain this. My main seal happened to leak very early on, and I'm now losing 2 quarts per oil change, so I'll probably spend quite a bit of time in this loaner...

I got the letter. Called & made appointment. Said it would take 1-2 hours. It too 6 hrs to get truck back. They found nothing wrong. When I walk up to driver door, I see a deep scratch in door. They reviewed the photos they took when I brought it in. No scratch. Took them another 4 weeks to schedule the door fix. They had to reshoot the door & had the truck 5 days. Dealer said they would paint it at dealer. They lie. They did it at a local paint shop. This is why I have trust issues!
    All of this over nothing.

Maybe you were unlucky, but what I did with my wife's 2023 Tacoma was to be gentle with the brake pads and shoes by allowing for them to "set" gradually. The instructions are in the manual, but not as clear as I already know by experience. I did the same for the recent brake job (rotors and pads) on my 2013 Tundra, and also my wife's 2010 RAV4 last year. However, while the Tundra and RAV have disks all around, the Tacoma only has them at the front; the rear has drums and brake shoes. For this reason the Tacoma's brake pads and shoes, aren't as smooth as the two vehicles above. But if you take it easy with the Tacoma's brakes to set: not hard and sudden braking, but gentle and steady pressure for a few hundred miles, the shoes and the pads excerpt equal pressure on both the drums and disks. in this case breaking becomes smoother when gradually stopping at the traffic light (for example). The pads in front usually wear faster than the shoes, but I don't have enough experience with the Tacoma to know if this is the case with it.

My wife already took her Tacoma to the dealership for the rear axle recall, but nothing else. We don't use the Toyota app. A 30 minutes to 1-hour job took about 6 hours. The reason for this is that in Fairbanks, Alaska I drive it to the dealership in the morning, and pick it up in the afternoon. In the recent past this Toyota dealership provided free shuttle rides to all its customers, but they stopped doing that about a year ago.

Now that I have read this I’m definitely doing my own recall. I’m going to torque my axle nuts to 41 ft-lbs and I’m done.

Don't ya just love it when a dealer tells you, "I have so much business, I don't need yours."
