Yeah but there are 2 or 3 different factories, not just 1 in Mexico. Now, the Japanese/Toyota usually do an excellent job of having uniformity across all factories to keep their quality control up. But of course, some things are manually done and maybe this is one of them? Or was it a robot that does the welding. I'm really curious on how this happens since Japanese companies practice what is called "Kaizen". It means always improving so that they can make things better, solve problems.
I noticed even the Hitachi made parts like the shocks are made in mexico but hopefully the Japanese companies oversee how their factories are set up to try and have the same uniform quality across different factories.

Back to the rear ends themselves, do I understand that the Hino differentials are cast in Indonesia? then shipped to factory for assembly? But I'm not sure where these bolts are they are talking about.

Seems like late 22 and most 23 builds are being recalled based on everyone’s responses.

I got the recall notice on my app yesterday ('23 Pro in Canada made in Mexico). It stated that those affected would receive a letter in the mail sometime in April.

My '23 Sport 4x4 is on the list, on my App...
For those saying older Toyotas never got recalled, my old '02, built in California, was part of a big recall for faulty lower ball joints. (They were scratched up, which could have lead to premature wear and failure)

I’d say the 21’s are also good!!

But the years after Covid and Mexico built are just thrown together halfway. Garbage

    Common sense my friend.

two things come out of the recall release. They talk about the ends of an axle and they talk about brake issues.

The only hardware at the end of the axle is the four retainer bolts for the axle retainer plate. If they loosen, the axle seal can leak, thus contaminating the brake shoes with diff lube.

Anyone know what's involved in just *inspecting* this? I'm assuming *at least* remove the drums. Do they have to pull out the axle?

(As a certified ASE master tech [from 20 years ago, different profession now]) I just can't even start to fathom what all could be wrong with mine after they take that all apart and put it back together haphazardly. I have a hard enough time letting them touch my oil drain plug.

How many Tacomas were made in MY 22 & 23? When I did a quick search I came up with a chart of monthly totals for many years and added the 2 affected years and came up with a little over 400,000. If this is correct then 381K being recalled with be most of them. My 2023 built in May 2023 in Guano Mexico show up on Toyota's site as being recalled.
