As far as weld splatter goes:
My Tacoma doesn’t have the recall but has some weld splatter.

For reference ,My 2020 5th gen 4runner has substantially more weld splatter on that same weld.

Yes, need a 3/8” torque wrench
    I used a standard 14mm 12 point socket

Check with local parts stores. Most “rent” tools, would suspect you can get one there. Not sure where you are at, could use mine if local.

Here in Vermont, get 'er torqued right and wait two months. The rust will keep them in place from then on....

But almost seriously, would loctite be helpful here? If the issue is a loosening over time, why not go old school with the liquid red devil? Any reason not to?

Crawl under the truck and check the bolts referenced in the pictures. If they were truly lose you have different symptoms than just bad alignment. You would have all sorts of shaking, clunking and potentially brake issues.

Certainly wouldn’t go with red thread locker
    Need heat to remove them
    Could damage the axle seal

Checked the Toyota recall site again, and now my rig is listed in the recall.
Yesterday, I checked the torque on the nuts and they were fine. After wiping some dust and dirt off the area, I could still see the factory "mating marks" (white paint pen). They were still in alignment.

I’m listed, got under at checked torque. All still new in appearance(haven’t got it wet yet lol!). All 8 clicked at 33ft pounds. Probably would have clicked at 35 so my truck ain’t going no where..

14,400 on odometer, towing a single axle box about 3000lbs for half the mileage for reference.

my apologies, I quoted a figure I was giving with a chart for a service manual. It appears it was incorrect. I’m not sure what year that was from. I personally looked at the service menu this morning, the nuts in question are to be torque to 33 lbs ft

wish I'd known, mine are good at 27ft.lb. and none of them budged. I will say it was a tight fit with my cdi 3/8" clicker and a 14mm 6pt., but it fit. My only crow foot sockets are sae. Weld looks good.

That's OK, the "fix" is probably going to change it to 35ft/lb. lol

That's a good idea! I'll check around. I'm in UT and looks like you're in IN, meet in Wichita?

In all honesty, think I'll just get in there with a normal ratchet and give em an estimated hand tightening if there isn't anywhere I can rent a 3/8" torque wrench from.

No way am I taking my truck to a dealership to fix this. Remove axle nut one at a time, inspect mating surface for spatter and grind off as necessary, replace nut with Nyloc flange nut.

There’s a really good donut shop in Manhattan, Kansas that has some maple bacon donuts. It would almost be worth the drive……

Thats what I did. No need for people to go crazy over the torque spec. As long as they are good and tight until the dealer can do the recall everyone will be fine.
